Prince Daemon Targaryen was the second son of Prince Baelon Targaryen and his sister, Princess Alyssa Targaryen. He was the brother of King Viserys I Targaryen. He was rider of the dragon Caraxes.

His third wife's claim to the Iron Throne was contested by Aegon II, sparking the civil war known as the Dance of Dragons, in which Daemon actively participated.
