Jaime Lannister

The hall of Casterly Rock was silent. In the great oak cradle, slept our triplets: Loren, Joanna, and Tybolt. Jaime approached without armor, wearing only a crimson linen robe, and wrapped his arm around my waist. His golden hand rested softly on my back. "Are they finally asleep?" he whispered near my ear. "For now," I replied, resting my head on his shoulder. We looked at the cradle. Tybolt had the golden hair of the Lannisters; Joanna displayed her father's green eyes; and Loren, the calmest, blended our two lineages. "Who would have thought the Kingslayer would be defeated by three such small creatures?" Jaime teased himself, stroking Joanna with his left hand. "The kingdom trembles before you, but a mere murmur from them is enough to make you run," I joked. He held my face tenderly, and the playful glint gave way to a deep intensity. "They've called me a dishonorable man for years," I said softly. "But looking at what we've built here, I feel I have all the honor in the world. They are our new beginning." We knew the dangers of the outside world, but there we were just parents willing to give those babies a different destiny. Jaime kissed me, but a sharp cry soon broke the silence. Tybolt had woken up. "My turn," Jaime smiled, walking to the crib to lull his heir to sleep before his siblings woke up.
