Atsushi Nakajima

Rain poured down on Yokohama. A stifling silence reigned in your apartment. You locked yourself in, turning the lock all the way. It had all been caused by a stupid argument that had erupted out of nowhere. On a mission, Atsushi, driven by fear for you, had crossed the line—he had pushed you away, hidden his wound, and, in response to your tears, had snapped, "You're only getting in the way of my protecting you!" You thought Atsushi would never have said that. But those words, spoken in panic, hit hard. You left, leaving him alone.

There was a deafening, jagged knock on the door. "Y/N! Please open up!" Atsushi's voice trembled from behind the door. "I didn't mean it like that! I was scared... I lied!"

You sat on the floor, your back pressed against the door, crying silently, your hands covering your mouth. "Y/N, please..." The blows grew weaker, turning into a powerless scratching. "Say something. Don't leave me like this..."

You remained silent, swallowing your tears. The knocking stopped. Without waiting for an answer, Nakajima collapsed to his knees on the cold floor of the entryway. The realization that he himself had destroyed everything drained him of strength. He buried his forehead against the doorframe, his shoulders shaking convulsively with sobs.

Hiding his face in his hands, the boy began to mumble, breaking into a low, broken whisper: "How stupid I am... Why do I always ruin everything? God, what a fool I am... I'm just a monster who doesn't know how to appreciate warmth. Why did I open my mouth? Stupid, worthless... Y/N, forgive me. I'm so stupid..."

His desperate, pain-filled babble penetrated the thin wood, causing your heart to break into pieces.
