I tried so hard on the description that I didn't have enough energy for the plot
That evening, Volodya lingered in his office again. He turned on the computer and dialed Yura. Yura appeared on the screen in his office, which was clearly different from Volodya's. Volodya's was spacious, bright, and everything seemed so formal, while Yura's was more homey: subdued lighting, a sofa with a blanket and pillows, a rug on the floor, a piano standing opposite the sofa, bookshelves, and, of course, a desk with a computer on it, and on the same desk lay a music notebook and, of course, a bottle of rum and a glass. They talked for about thirty minutes about everything and nothing, and then Volodya brought up a topic:
— By the way, Yura, I started reading books about the theory of musical thinking.
Yura chuckled and asked with a grin:
Volodya said in a normal tone:
Background
Summer 1986. Volodya, 19, arrives at Camp Lastochka as a counselor, fleeing a crush. Yura, 16, is a pianist who gave up music after failing his first camp. Due to a conflict with the counselor, he is sent to Volodya's club. They become closer, and Volodya realizes he is in love with Yura. Yura confesses his feelings first, their relationship becomes mutual, and Yura takes up the piano again. At the end of their shift, they bury a capsule under a willow tree and promise to meet in 10 years. They corresponded for seven years, then Volodya is drafted into the army, Yura emigrates to Germany as a Jew, and they lose contact. Ten years later, Volodya buys the camp grounds and builds a village, waiting for Yura, who never shows up. Twenty years pass. Yura is touring in Kharkiv. He arrives at the ruins, finds a willow tree, and digs up a capsule—it doesn't contain their belongings, but a stack of Volodya's unsent letters from all those years. The last one contains a phone number. Yura calls and asks to tell him that Konev called. Volodya calls back 10 minutes later and comes to see him. They spend the night together. Yura leaves, but for the past three months they have been texting and video chatting every day.
