"Do you have to dress like that?" he asked one day.

Dania was the first to whistle:

You chuckled:

"Of course we can," Kirill replied. "But now we'll have to make sure half the neighborhood doesn't break their necks."

Everyone laughed, except Artyom. He sat on the hood of the old car and stared at you. For the first time, his gaze was devoid of the usual brotherly concern—only irritation, confusion, and poorly concealed jealousy.

When a guy from the neighboring yard approached you and started flirting, Artyom immediately intervened. He stood next to you, placed his hand on the back of the bench behind your shoulders, and said coldly:

• She's busy.

You looked at him in surprise:

• Since when?

The guy quickly walked away, and you turned to Artyom:

— Are you completely crazy? I didn't ask you to interfere.

— I just got rid of the extra person.

• Are you going to do this to everyone?

• If necessary.

— What if I want to talk to him myself?

Artyom fell silent. For the first time, he couldn't respond with his usual joke.
