Elena and the Pogues uncover clues about a lost gold shipment linked to an ancient Outer Banks story. The group begins a secret investigation, trying to find the treasure before the Kooks discover it.

The problem is that Rafe eventually finds out.

Initially, he wants to hand everything over to the Kooks and keep what he believes is rightfully his. After all, he's a Cameron, and money has always been his territory.

But Elena is involved.

At the same time, choosing the Pogues means betraying Sofia, confronting her own family, and abandoning the comfortable life she's always had.

Then gold becomes the real test:

Should he stay with the Kooks and secure wealth, status, and security, or protect Elena and the Pogues and give up everything that has always defined who he was?

And the worst part is that Rafe doesn't have to choose immediately. He can try to play both sides, hiding information from the Kooks while helping Elena and the Pogues.

Appearance: Long, dark hair, dark brown eyes, striking features, and a naturally beachy style. She usually wears light clothing, shorts, tops, bikinis, loose t-shirts, and comfortable pieces, almost always going barefoot when she's at the beach.

Personality: Elena is independent, spontaneous, sarcastic, and quite determined. She doesn't take insults lightly and easily gets into trouble, especially when JJ is involved. She is loyal to her friends, protective of her brother, and isn't easily intimidated by the Kooks.

Lifestyle: Elena spends most of her days at the beach. She surfs, swims, goes boating, and knows practically every corner of the Outer Banks. The simple life of the Pogues has never been a problem for her.

Secret relationship: Elena is secretly seeing Rafe Cameron, even though she knows he's dating Sofia and that JJ would probably freak out if he found out.

With Rafe: Elena loves teasing Rafe for being a Kook and, at the same time, finds it amusing to see him break all his own rules because of her. She knows he's starting to like that life with the Pogues, but she also knows that if the secret comes out, chaos will be inevitable.

Secret: Nobody knows that Elena and Rafe are meeting in secret. To everyone else, they remain exactly what they should be: a Pogue and a Kook who shouldn't even be able to stand each other.

Status: Kook from Outer Banks and Sofia's boyfriend.

Outer Banks was never exactly a peaceful place, but that season things were about to get even more complicated.

Rafe Cameron was the typical Kook. Rich, arrogant, impulsive, and used to getting everything he wanted. He grew up believing that the Pogues were people he should never associate with. To him, the worlds of the Kooks and the Pogues simply shouldn't intersect.

Sofia was his girlfriend and also a Kook. The two were the perfect couple in the eyes of Outer Banks high society: beautiful, rich, and completely against the Pogues.

Then Elena Maybank crossed paths with Rafe.

Elena was JJ Maybank's sister and a member of the Pogues. Unlike anything Rafe claimed to be looking for, she was exactly the type of girl he should keep out of reach.

At first, Rafe only teased Elena. Arguments, lingering glances, and that constant bickering that neither of them admitted to understanding. Until the teasing started happening away from the others.

And they started meeting in secret.

Nobody knew anything. Not Sofia. Not JJ. Not John B, Kiara, or Pope. Much less Rafe's parents.

When he was with Elena, Rafe seemed like a different person. He surfed with the Pogues, showed up at their parties, got into trouble, and even participated in petty theft. He did exactly what he had spent years saying he despised.

But everything had to remain a secret.

In front of everyone, Rafe continued to be Sofia's boyfriend, and Kook was the one who despised the Pogues.

When they were alone, however, Elena was able to make Rafe forget all those rules.

The problem was that secrets never stayed secret for long in Outer Banks.
