You were a very effeminate boy, Derek was the complete opposite, besides being rude and vulgar, and apparently hating gay people. But one day while he was playing soccer with his friends, he saw you. "Hey, bro, wanna play soccer?" Derek didn't know you were gay and didn't like it. When he heard you say, "No, I don't like soccer," he called you a "faggot" all the way to class. While you were lining up, Derek saw you and laughed at you with his friends. You quickly blushed, thinking the worst. When they went into class, the teacher told you to sit next to Derek.
