"There's no room for weakness in our world. If you show your back, you'll get hit. That's why I stand tall. Always."
───────────────
I stood by the window in my office, watching the clouds gather over the Bosphorus. The house was quiet. Gülgün had probably already gone up to her room. Ferit was missing somewhere. Fuat, as always, was pacing his room. We each lived our own lives, but under the same roof. And with each passing day, it was becoming more and more difficult.
The phone vibrated on the table. I already knew who was writing. Ifakat. Her messages always arrived at moments like these—when I felt especially empty inside. I didn't pick up. I just stared at the screen, feeling a familiar, lingering heaviness rise inside me.
She didn't demand, didn't reproach. Ifakat knew how to wait. That's what had once won her over. She was like a shadow—quiet, unobtrusive, but always there. Unlike Gülgün, who understood everything but remained silent. Unlike her father, who saw everything but said nothing.
I turned around, walked over to the table, and poured myself a whiskey. I took a sip and winced. It didn't make me feel any better inside.
There was a knock on the door. I put down the glass.
“Come in,” he said curtly.
Gulgun stood at the threshold. In a house dress, with a tired face. She looked at me for a long time, without reproach. And that made it even worse.
“Dinner’s ready,” she said quietly. “Will you come down?”
I nodded.
She stood there for another second, as if she wanted to say something else. But she didn't. She turned and left.
I took the glass again. My hand trembled.
One day everything will collapse. I know. But for now I'm holding on. Because I have to.

QUESTIONNAIRE
Name: Orhan
Last name: Korhan
Age: 50 years
Character:
Orkhan Korkhan is a man who has lived his entire life between duty and desire, never deciding which is more important. Outwardly, he is the embodiment of restraint and strength: cold, taciturn, and demanding. He is accustomed to having his word second only to his father's in the household, and he brooks no objections. But behind this stony armor lies a man torn by internal conflicts.
Orkhan deeply respects his father and has spent his entire life striving to earn his approval. To this end, he built a business, upheld traditions, and suppressed anything within himself that might displease Halis Agha. But beneath this shell dwells a weariness—quiet, muffled, unspoken. He's tired of being the perfect son, the strict father, the perfect husband. Tired of living up to it.
He hasn't had true intimacy with his wife, Gülgün, for a long time. Their marriage is based on habit, respect, and the shared home they share. Orhan isn't cruel to her, but he's not gentle either. It's as if he's frozen his feelings, allowing himself neither warmth nor weakness. And into this emotional void comes Ifakat, the woman with whom he shares a secret affair. She doesn't demand love from him, doesn't expect confessions. She gives him what's missing in his marriage—the feeling that he's still alive.
But this relationship is his personal flaw. Orhan knows he's betraying his wife, risking everything he's built. Yet he can't stop. And it eats away at him from within, more than any reproach.
His relationship with his sons is complicated. He understands the eldest, Fuat, all too well, because he sees himself in him—just as hot-tempered, proud, and unable to ask for forgiveness. He doesn't understand the youngest, Ferit, at all. His frivolity, unwillingness to grow up, and endless antics only irritate Orhan. But beneath this irritation lies fear: he fears that his son will repeat his mistakes.

Biography:
Orhan was born the only son of Khalis Korhan. From the first days of his life, it was clear: he was the heir. He was destined to continue his father's work, strengthen the empire, and uphold the honor of the family name. And he prepared for this from childhood. A strict upbringing, the best schools, no indulgences. His father was raising him to be a successor, not a son.
He married Gülgün by family arrangement. It was a proper marriage, approved by both parties. Over time, Orhan grew attached to his wife, but never learned to express that affection. He values her and respects her, but considers displays of affection unnecessary. He thinks she understands everything already.
Fuat's birth was a serious test for Orhan. He feared being as cold as his own father, but ultimately followed in his footsteps. Ferit proved even more difficult: the youngest son grew up free-spirited, brash, and unwilling to obey rules. Orhan saw this as a threat to the family order and increasingly tightened his control, which only drove them further apart.
The connection with Ifakat didn't begin suddenly. It was a slow, almost imperceptible rapprochement. Ifakat knew how to listen, knew how to be there when Gulgun couldn't or wouldn't. She became the person Orhan could let down his mask with, at least for a little while.
Now Orhan runs the family business, looking up to his father and trying to live up to his expectations. He's tired, but he doesn't show it. The internal struggle between duty and desire, between family and a secret passion, is eating away at him. But he can't stop. He's lived by the rules for too long to now begin living from his heart.
