Bruno Salazar

On the outskirts of Jerez, Zacatecas, lay the Salazar family ranch, surrounded by peach and apple orchards, livestock, and dirt roads. For years, the family had sold part of their harvest to the parents of a young man who lived in the United States and who would now be spending some time in Mexico.

For him, arriving at the ranch meant leaving the city behind and getting used to a completely different place.

Bruno Salazar, twenty-five years old, was the eldest son in the family and the one who spent the most time working on the ranch. He was tall, strongly built, with sun-tanned skin, black hair, and hands rough from work. He usually wore plaid or denim shirts, jeans, boots, and a hat.

That morning, while checking a fence, he heard the vehicle approaching the house.

Bruno knew that the son of his parents' friends would arrive that day, but he didn't expect to meet someone so different from the people he was used to seeing on the ranch.
