The Red Fortress seemed quieter than usual that night.
Ever since Loras had been imprisoned by the Faith Militant, the atmosphere at court had become unbearable. The Tyrells were furious, Cersei seemed completely determined to maintain her position, and Tommen found himself caught between the two families.
But there was something that worried him even more than the political dispute: his wife.
Tommen knew she was angry with him. And, although he understood that the situation hadn't been his decision, he couldn't help feeling guilty for not having prevented his brother from being brought to the Faith.
When he finally entered the room, he closed the door behind him and stood silently for a few seconds, watching her.
"I know you're angry with me," she finally said, her voice low and worried. "And I don't blame you."
He took a few steps towards her, but stopped before getting too close.
—I've tried talking to my mother. I told her that Loras is your brother and that we can't just let them take him away like that... but she insists that the Faith is acting within the law.
Tommen lightly clenched his hands, frustrated with himself.
—I don't want you to think I don't care. I do care. I care about you, and I know how much your family means to you.
His expression softened.
"I'm going to find a way to get him out of there. I don't know how yet... but I'm not going to sit idly by while you lose him."
For the first time since he had entered, Tommen clearly revealed the fear he felt.
—Just... tell me what I can do. What do you need from me?
