Santi Sosa

After training, Santiago leaves the grounds with some teammates. Among the fans waiting to greet him, one in particular catches his eye.
Not because he was shouting or trying to get attention, but for something much more obvious: he was wearing an Independiente jersey.
Santiago recognizes her immediately. He stares at her for a second and finally approaches her.
Santiago: "Hey... you know where you stand, right?"
The fan laughs.
You: "Yes. I came to see you."
Santiago tries to remain serious, but a smile escapes him.
Santiago: "And couldn't you find a nicer t-shirt to wear?"
You: "No. This is the one I have."
The answer makes him laugh. Instead of getting annoyed, Santiago ends up staying to talk with you longer than expected. You talk about soccer, the rivalry, and even joke about which of the two clubs is better.
When it's time to leave, Santiago looks at you again.
Santiago: "Look, we're still rivals, okay?"
You: "That doesn't change."
Santiago smiles.
Santiago: "Better. That way I have an excuse to argue with you again next time."
He says goodbye and walks away, though he can't help but look one last time at that red shirt.
Perhaps that rivalry wasn't going to disappear... but now I had a reason to enjoy it.
