In ancient times, Snezhnaya was inhabited by water demons—water spirits who sang on stages and in the streets. The weaker ones liked to hide underwater, luring passersby to the shore with enchanting songs, only to suddenly emerge and douse them with water. But over time, the water demons began to disappear, their songs grew fainter, and people became sad, fearing that the underwater music had abandoned them forever.
And then it became known that Vodyanitsa was still performing on the stage of the Royal Theatre—as if the old days had never gone away. Why she stayed when the others had gone, no one knows, and no one dares ask her.
In the trailer, Vodyanitsa calls the "rules of Teyvat" a curse - this hints at her possible connection to the Celestial Order and a deeper understanding of the world's structure than ordinary characters.
Theatrical and expressive. As a prima donna, she's accustomed to the stage and the spotlight. In the dressing room backstage, she talks to herself and even argues—for example, with a certain Paraskeva about high notes.
Mysterious. Behind the theatrical veneer lies a being who has lived for approximately 500 years and knows far more about the world than she lets on. Her remarks about the "curses of Teyvat's rules" hint at a profound understanding of the world's structure.
Lonely. All her fellow water spirits have left, but she remains—and the reason for this is hidden behind the curtain.
Principled. At the theater, she strictly enforces the rules: no free standing tickets, no brought-in chairs, no slightly open doors (a draft would freeze everyone).

Alyosha has a rugged, northern look—the developers were inspired by the culture of northern peoples, including the Sakha. He wears warm hunting clothes with fur trim, and his rifle, judging by its design, is based on the Mosin rifle, a Russian repeating rifle from 1891. His faithful dog, Tugarin, a hound he found frozen in the snow as a puppy, is always by his side.
Alyosha grew up in the remote village of Alatyr, now deserted. One winter, bandits attacked the village to steal the remaining crystals of the godson and mora. Alyosha's parents rushed to protect their son and were seriously wounded. Alyosha took his father's hunting rifle and killed the bandits, but still lacked the money to treat his parents.
He joined a group that was planning to venture deeper into the snowy wasteland—on the condition that they attack only animals, not unarmed people. But the bandits broke their promise, and Alyosha had to deal with them too.
Later, a mysterious man came to him and explained that a true hunter wouldn't allow dangerous animals to linger on his territory. Thus, Alyosha met the head of the "Rokot" organization, which opposed the "Frost" project, and eventually joined it—realizing that the main problem wasn't the bandits, but the merciless cold that drives people to desperate acts.
Pragmatic and collected, Alyosha is not an idealistic hero—he's a hunter who does what needs to be done. But he has a clear code: don't touch the unarmed.
Caring. Tugarin's story shows that kindness lies behind his stern exterior—he took in a frozen puppy and named him after the legendary adversary of the hero Alyosha Popovich.
Modest. He doesn't seek fame, but simply wants a quiet life. His plans include going to Mondstadt, stopping by the Cat's Tail, and playing Sacred Summoning of the Seven (though he admits he's not very good at it).

Major Fatui and head of the Snezhnaya Royal Military Academy. He is a strict, authoritative commander respected by his subordinates: for example, Bombardier Lieutenant Stepanyan directly calls him his mentor and recalls his lessons in discipline.
Tall, powerfully built, with a very composed, military-like demeanor. He has short dark gray hair, deep violet eyes, and fair skin. He wears a formal black military uniform, a long fur coat, and lots of metal details—his appearance immediately makes it clear that he's not just a soldier, but a high-ranking officer.
A tough but fair commander. He's not one to shower kindness on others, but he demands discipline and demonstrates it himself. For him, order and duty are not just empty words, but the foundation of service.
Mentor. His attitude toward his students (like Stepanyan) shows that he invests in the fighters' training and instills in them not only combat skills but also norms of behavior.
A pragmatist. As the head of an academy, he likely thinks in terms of efficiency: results are more important than pretentiousness.
Part of Snezhnaya's system. He's not a "rebel" like the members of Rokot, but a pillar of the existing structure.
Valery sides with the official Snezhnaya government and the Fatui structure. Therefore, his line is ideologically opposed to those who oppose cruel projects (like "Cold")—and therefore, Odetta's position in "Rumor." This isn't necessarily a direct conflict, but rather different sides of the same cold country: one strengthens the system, the other tries to soften its excesses.

Odette was born to the renowned ballerina Violetta and a military man. After Odette's father died in the line of duty and her mother was injured and confined to a wheelchair, she continued to train intensively despite pain and fatigue.
One day, the Signora, under whom Odette's father served, came to their house and offered to take the girl under her wing in exchange for financial assistance. Odette agreed, deciding she could manage on her own. Having joined Fatui, she continued her ballet training and devoted herself to grueling training.
Odetta later joined the organization "Rokot," which opposed the "Stuzha" project and helped the residents of Snezhnaya. However, her identity as a prima ballerina remained hidden from her comrades.
She has light blue hair and soft features, with a cool, icy elegance. In portraits, her gaze is calm and distant, her lips slightly pressed together—like a frost-touched statue.
The core of the look is a ballet tutu, but with interesting nuances. Beneath the sheer top tutu is a contrasting dark (almost black or deep purple with a gradient) underlayer. Fans see this as a hint of duality: the images of both the White and Black Swan (Odette and Odile) are present simultaneously. The design features numerous swan-themed details, such as falling black swan feathers.
As a ballerina, she wears pointe shoes—an important detail that supports the ballet aesthetic and distinguishes her from characters in regular shoes.

Odette lives a constant dual role: on stage, she's a prima ballerina, the embodiment of grace and perfection, and behind the scenes, she's Agent Fatui, cool and precise. This duality isn't just a mask: she consciously balances between them, and it's in this balance that her strength is born. The trailer and lore play on this through references to Swan Lake: the image of the White and Black Swan symbolizes her inner contradictions.

The world in which the events take place is Teyvat. Mitya is a resident of the Snowy region. Besides Snowy, Teyvat contains six other regions: Mondstat, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan. Each region has its own archon. The Snowy region's archon is the Queen, also known as Anastasia Feodorovna Snowy. Teyvat also contains the Eyes of God, which grant a person elemental abilities from one of the seven elements (cryo, pyro, electro, anemo, geo, dendro, and hydro). Teyvat is home to a celestial order—a divine being who governs the world of Teyvat and establishes its laws. This is not a specific person, but rather an abstract idea that underlies the world order. It creates the rules and can cast curses. The Archons obey the heavenly order, but Anastasia (the Queen) wants to overthrow it, and for this purpose, she developed Project Frost and Project Mistletoe. Project Mistletoe is a weapon for overthrowing the heavenly order. Creating such a weapon requires a tremendous amount of energy, and it requires both heating homes from the severe frost in Snezhnaya and Project Mistletoe (the weapons development). Mitya is in charge of both projects, ensuring the weapons actually function and perfecting them. All information about the projects is classified. His scarf ensures that Mitya doesn't spill the beans, preventing him from revealing information about the projects to anyone, even his closest friends.

Mitya's scarf is a completely different personality, unable to obey Mitya. The scarf can't speak, but it can make gestures and act. For example, it can choke Mitya when he reveals secret information about his work (if he blurts out something personal, the scarf does nothing) or wave at someone. The scarf isn't a scarf in the traditional sense: it's a piece of fabric attached to Mitya's clothing on the back, shaped like a hand at the end. It's usually inactive.

Mitya is a lively, talkative person with a charming and often eccentric demeanor. He's easy to get along with, but sometimes gets distracted by scientific research. His personality is balanced by his equally lively scarf, which reacts to Mitya's actions, including physically covering his mouth to prevent him from divulging classified information. Despite this, he's incredibly observant and intelligent. He's not shy and is very open with everyone, loving to talk.

Harlequin - Fourth in the hierarchy of the Harbingers of Fatui (title "Servant"), head of the "House of the Hearth".
Tartaglia is the Eleventh Harbinger (title "Childe"). Real name: Ajax.

Danika is a green-haired girl who first appeared in the Snezhnaya trailer. HoYoverse hasn't yet revealed her origins or exact abilities, but her significant screen time hints at a significant role in the plot.
