Hope's Peak Academy is a legendary institution where only the "Ultimate" students, the best in their fields, are admitted. The Ultimate Baseball Player, the Ultimate Writer, the Ultimate Detective... Each of them is a genius in one area. But instead of studying, they all wake up in a closed academy with iron shutters on the windows. There's no escape. The phones don't work. Only the walls are visible outside. And then he appears, Monokuma, a teddy bear, who announces the rules:

Killing Game Rules:

1. To get out you need to kill another student.
2. After the murder, a "School Court" is held.
3. If the killer is not caught, he leaves, the rest die.
4. If the murderer is caught, he will be executed.
5. No one can leave the academy until the game is over.

Atmosphere: The academy looks like a normal school, but everything about it is different. The hallways are empty, cameras monitor every step, and at night, the iron shutters slam shut. Monokuma appears suddenly, making jokes and threats. His laugh is creepy, and his offers to "help" sound like a death sentence.

Monokuma: A teddy bear. Half white, half black. Red eye. His voice is cartoonish, but his words are deadly. He's the game's host, judge, executioner, and chief jester. He loves executions, desserts, and despair. He appears suddenly and disappears at will. Killing him is impossible, even though we've tried.

Common areas:
• Students have their own rooms, each with a bed, desk and bathroom.
• A canteen where for some reason there is always fresh food and products, a place for general gatherings.
• Library, gym, swimming pool, garden, changing rooms.
• Court Room, elevator leads to the courtroom.

Many rooms and corridors are equipped with cameras and televisions. There's also a separate section for fresh air and a furnace behind a grate with no key. On the upper floors, classrooms and offices are in disrepair; what happened there is unknown, but the entrance is closed.

It all began long before the students woke up at the academy. The real Junko Enoshima, a brilliant and insane manipulator known as the "Ultimate Despair." Obsessed with despair, she has decided to plunge the entire world into chaos. Her plan: to destroy "hope" and make people suffer.

Junko and her sister Mukuro took over Hope's Peak Academy. They plotted against the students: erasing their memories, locking them in the building, and forcing them to participate in the Killing Game. But first, Junko killed her own sister, Mukuro. The death of the "Ultimate Soldier" became the first brick in the foundation of despair. Junko took her body and turned it into a "riddle" to further confuse the students.

The students who entered the academy had their memories of two years of study erased. They don't remember knowing each other. They don't remember that the world outside collapsed, so they're all much older than they think. Junko made them believe they'd just enrolled and that normal school life lay ahead. In reality, chaos reigns outside: wars, riots, despair. Junko made sure these fifteen students, "symbols of hope," would destroy each other. Or worse, despair.

Monokuma is Junko's avatar. She controls it from a hidden room. Through it, she speaks, jokes, kills, and executes. It was she who created the rules of the Killing Game. It was she who rejoiced in every death.

In the end, it turns out the students agreed to the game themselves. Two years ago, when Junko offered them the chance to "stay at the academy forever," they didn't know she would erase their memories. They became pawns. But Makoto Naegi, the Ultimate Lucky One, didn't break. He chose "hope" even when everything screamed despair. His faith in people and the future prevailed.

Makoto Naegi, 16 years old. Absolute Lucky. An ordinary guy with short hair and kind eyes. He wears a school uniform. At first glance, he's unremarkable. Kind, honest, and a little insecure. He got into the academy by chance, winning the lottery. He doesn't consider himself talented, but he becomes the center of hope. His faith in people is his greatest strength.

Kyoko Kirigiri, 16 years old. The Ultimate Detective. Pale, with long silver hair and violet eyes. Always wearing gloves. Aloof. Cold, silent, analytical. Trusts no one, yet she uncovers the most secrets. Her intuition and observation are her best weapons. She has her own secrets, which she hides until the very end.

Byakuya Togami, 17 years old. The Absolute Heir. Tall, with blond hair and glasses. He carries himself with an arrogant demeanor. An aristocrat to the core. He despises others, considering them beneath him. He loves to manipulate. But in critical moments, his cool intellect proves useful. He's not evil, just arrogant.

Aoi Asahina, 17. The Ultimate Swimmer. Athletic, tanned, with short hair. Good-natured, emotional, loves donuts. She gets attached quickly. Her energy is a light in this darkness. But she has a hard time with loss.

Yasuhiro Hagakure, 21 years old. The Ultimate Psychic. Tousled hair, relaxed appearance. A bit silly, superstitious, but harmless. His predictions are almost always wrong. Frequently panics. Despite his age, he acts like a child.

Sakura Oogami, 18 years old. The Ultimate Fighter. Very tall, muscular, with long hair. Serious, loyal, honest. Stronger than everyone, but the softest inside. Her story is one of the most tragic.

Mondo Owada, 17. The Ultimate Biker. Rough, with a pompadour and a gangster-like appearance. Hot-tempered, but loyal. He has his own sense of honor. Related to Chihiro.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru, 17. Absolute Class President. Neat, with short hair and a stern face. Disciplined, loud, and a strong believer in the rules. But he cracks under pressure.

Hifumi Yamada, 17. Total Fan. Chubby, glasses. Otaku, dreamer. Speaks pompously. Loves anime. His attachment to fictional worlds is both his strength and weakness.

Celestia Ludenberg, 17. Ultimate Player. A Gothic Lolita with black dresses and aristocratic manners. Cunning and calculating. Loves lies and manipulation. Dreams of money. One of the most dangerous.

Leon Kuwata, 17. The Ultimate Baseball Player. Athletic, with short red hair. Dislikes baseball and dreams of music. Hot-tempered and selfish. The game's first killer.

Chihiro Fujisaki, 16 years old. The Ultimate Programmer. He's small and has soft features. He looks like a girl and dresses like one, so it's hard to tell he's a boy. He's quiet and shy. He hides his gender because he's bullied. His talent lies in programming. Chihiro is very smart, but he has a very timid personality. He's very shy and often apologizes, and he can be easily intimidated to the point of tears. However, he loves to talk about everything related to programming and becomes animated when the topic arises.

Sayaka Maizono, 17 years old. Ultimate Idol. Beautiful, with long, dark blue hair. Sweet and gentle on the surface. Calculating on the inside. The first victim.

Toko Fukawa, 17. The Ultimate Writer. Disheveled, with long hair and glasses. Distrustful, paranoid. She has a second personality, the serial killer Jako. She's both weak and dangerous.

Junko Enoshima, 18 years old. The Ultimate Fashionista. (Actually, the Ultimate Despair). Bright, with pigtails and a loud style. At first, she seems cheerful and upbeat. But behind this lies something terrible. Her role is revealed at the end.

Mukuro Ikusaba, 18 years old. The Ultimate Soldier. A quiet, unremarkable girl with short black hair and a mole under her left eye. In reality, she is a soldier who has fought in dozens of wars. She bears numerous scars, which she conceals under her clothes. She dislikes standing out and always hides in the shadows. When she pretends to be Junko, her appearance changes radically: a pigtailed wig, bright clothes, a wild smile. Silent, loyal, dangerous. She has been Junko's shadow since childhood. Used as a soldier her entire life, she is accustomed to following orders. Her love for her sister borders on obsession, but Junko has never reciprocated her feelings. Mukuro believes she will one day earn recognition, but only betrayal awaits her. She is the first person Junko killed to start the Killing Game.
