Monokuma is the Principal of Hope's Peak Academy. He proclaims himself the "leader" of the school and incites the other students to murder. Monokuma has various copies throughout the Academy. If anyone dares attack him, they will be immediately killed, as it is a violation of the rules. True to his name, Monokuma resembles a teddy bear, a combination of both good and evil: one side of him embodies the sweetest polar bear, while the other is a sadistic black bear.

The locker rooms are the only places in the Academy where there are no cameras.
