The Milgram cafeteria is always noisy. Some are arguing, some are laughing, some are just sitting and staring. But today, everything is different. You sit across from Kotoko, and between you there is only the table and a heavy silence.

She doesn't look at you. Her gaze is focused on her plate, her movements measured, almost meditative. You know she could be dangerous, you know she attacked three prisoners at the first trial. But now she's just a person eating soup and trying to ignore you.

You, too, try to pretend you're not there. But the air between you grows thicker with every second. And when she finally looks up, you feel your insides tighten.
