The Armed Detective Agency is the main protagonist organization in Bungou
It is a private investigation firm with special jurisdiction. They handle violent crimes, acts of terrorism, supernatural incidents, and cases too dangerous or complex for conventional police or the military. They operate legitimately thanks to a special business license granted by the government's Special Division for Unusual Powers.
How does it work? Operations: They accept assignments ranging from finding lost cats for ordinary citizens to defusing bombs or solving serial murders for the government. They act as a law enforcement force in the city's "twilight," maintaining the balance against the underground criminal organization, the Port Mafia.
The Entrance Exam: Having a powerful special ability isn't enough to get in. Every candidate is subjected to a secret, orchestrated test designed to push their morality to the limit. If the candidate demonstrates a willingness to self-sacrifice and a genuine sense of justice to protect the innocent, they are accepted.
Division of labor: The deductive pillar is Ranpo Edogawa (who solves cases in seconds without even having a real ability). The rest of the Agency functions as his muscle and support: strategists like Osamu Dazai, coordinators like Doppo Kunikida, medics like Akiko Yosano (whose ability heals mortal wounds), and combat forces like Atsushi Nakajima.

The president and founder is a former government assassin turned man of strong ethical principles. He has the bearing of a samurai, a stern face, and always wears traditional Japanese clothing (a yukata and a haori).

His usual attire consists of a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, black suspenders, dark trousers, fingerless gloves, and a long black belt that hangs loosely down his leg, subtly resembling a tiger's tail.
Personality
He is a kind, empathetic, and humble boy with a strong sense of justice. Due to the constant rejection, mistreatment, and contempt he suffered in the orphanage during his childhood, Atsushi grew up with a profound lack of self-esteem, believing he didn't deserve to live or be of any use to anyone. However, as he integrates into the Agency and faces extreme situations, he learns to value himself and develops unwavering courage, being willing to risk his life to protect others, even his enemies.
Ability: Beast Beneath the Moonlight
It is a powerful ability for physical transformation and hand-to-hand combat:
Transformation Effect: Allows you to partially or fully transform into a ferocious white tiger in the moonlight.
Attributes: In his tiger form or with parts of it (such as claws or limbs), Atsushi acquires superhuman strength, immense speed, sharp reflexes, and an accelerated regeneration factor capable of healing fatal wounds in seconds.
Condition: At first, he couldn't control the ability and transformed unconsciously (often triggered by moonlight), but thanks to Fukuzawa's leadership and the Agency's control, he learns to master his power

He is a tall, slender young man with dark brown, slightly curly, and messy hair. His eyes, the same shade of brown, usually display a lazy or mocking expression, though they can turn cold and calculating in an instant. His most distinctive feature is that almost his entire body is covered in bandages, a habit he has maintained since his days in the mafia. He typically wears a long beige coat over a dark vest, a white shirt, light-colored trousers, and a bolo tie with a turquoise pendant.
Personality
He is a living contradiction: on the one hand, he appears dramatic, lazy, childish, and comically obsessed with finding a "double suicide" with a beautiful woman. On the other hand, he possesses a brilliant, macabre, and ruthless mind. He is a master of manipulation and psychological warfare, capable of predicting his enemies' moves with mathematical precision (including Fyodor's). Despite his dark past in the Port Mafia, he tries to act on the side of good to honor the last wish of his deceased friend, Sakunosuke Oda.

It is an extremely rare and feared passive-type ability among special users worldwide:
Total Nullification: Disables any other special ability at the precise moment it comes into direct physical contact with Dazai's skin or with the manifestation of enemy power.
Unique property: It cannot be turned off or modified; it is continuous, making it totally immune to any supernatural effect (both destructive and healing).

She is one of the most recent additions to the Armed Detective Agency, a young woman rescued by Atsushi after being used as an assassin by the Port Mafia.
Physical appearance
She is a 14-year-old girl, short in stature and of delicate build. She has very long, dark blue hair, styled in two low pigtails held in place with white flowers, and deep blue eyes that often reflect a serious and reserved expression. She dresses traditionally in a vibrant red kimono held by a yellow obi (belt), white stockings, and traditional sandals. She always wears a red mobile phone around her neck, which was the means the Port Mafia used to control her power.
Personality
At first, she appears cold, distant, and emotionless due to the trauma and psychological manipulation she suffered when she was forced to kill 35 people for the Port Mafia. However, upon joining the ADA and living with Atsushi, she reveals her true nature: a kind, sweet, shy girl with a deep fascination for everyday things (like crepes, amusement parks, and stuffed animals). She is extremely loyal to the Agency and Atsushi, and feels a constant desire to redeem herself by proving that her ability can be used to save lives instead of taking them.
Ability: Snow Demon
It is a summoning-type combat and assassination skill:
Killer Entity: Summons a ghostly spirit clad in a white kimono and wielding a deadly katana. The spirit possesses lethal speed and strength, capable of cutting through steel and overwhelming multiple enemies in seconds.
Control: Originally, Kyouka couldn't directly control the spirit; it only responded to commands issued through the voice on the cell phone she wore around her neck. However, after passing the Agency's entrance exam, Fukuzawa's ability (All Men Are Equal) allowed her to take voluntary control of the Snow Demon.

He is a young man, tall and athletic. His ash-blond hair is tied back in a low ponytail, and he wears thin-framed glasses. He dresses with understated elegance: a waistcoat over a white shirt, dark trousers, and a light-colored tie or bow tie. He always carries his essential accessory: a notebook with the word "Ideals" written on the cover, which he never parts with.
Personality
He is meticulous, professional, rigorous, and obsessed with order. He plans every second of his day in his notebook and becomes deeply upset when his plans are disrupted (something Dazai systematically provokes). Despite his strict and sometimes cantankerous nature, Kunikida possesses an unwavering moral compass and an absolute sense of duty. His greatest aspiration is to save everyone without exception, which often leads him to face devastating ethical dilemmas when confronted with the cruelty of the real world.

Physical manifestation: It allows you to materialize in the real world any inanimate object that you write or draw on the pages of your notebook.
Limitations: The manifested object cannot be larger than the notebook itself. Additionally, it requires using physical pages of your personalized notebook to activate the power.

She is the only doctor in the Armed Detective Agency and an essential figure for the group's survival on high-risk missions.

She is a young, elegant woman with a refined bearing. She has black hair styled in a straight bob with bangs, and her eyes are a dark magenta. She wears a long-sleeved white blouse, a black tie, a dark pencil skirt, and stockings with high heels. Her most distinctive accessory is a gold butterfly hair clip. In combat or during her "medical interventions," she usually carries a tool kit or large bladed weapons (such as a hatchet).
Personality
She is a strong, independent, feminist woman with great determination. She hates sexism, unnecessary violence, and the loss of human life, a trauma stemming from her past as a military doctor in her youth. Although in her daily life she is a reasonable, compassionate, and protective person towards her comrades, she has a sadomasochistic and terrifying side when she needs to use her ability: she enjoys seeing how her patients fear her "healing methods," which makes the other members prefer to avoid getting sick or injured at all costs.
Ability: You Shalt Not Die
It is one of the most powerful and rarest healing abilities in the entire world of Bungou Stray Dogs:
Absolute regeneration: It can instantly heal any type of physical wound, amputated limbs, or life-threatening damage, leaving the patient completely healed and as good as new.
Extreme activation condition: The ability only works if the patient is on the verge of death (extremely critically injured). If the person has minor or moderate injuries, Yosano must first inflict agonizing pain and physically bring them to the brink of death before her power can activate and fully heal them.

He is the youngest member of the Armed Detective Agency, recruited directly from a rural village on Fukuzawa's own recommendation.

His philosophy of life is simple: he believes that all people are inherently good and that any conflict or questioning can be resolved by speaking honestly and smiling. However, if peaceful persuasion doesn't work or he sees someone in danger, he acts immediately without hesitation.
Ability: Undefeated by the Rain
It is a pure physical enhancement skill with a very particular requirement:
Strength and invulnerability: Grants him immense physical strength capable of lifting cars, uprooting streetlights with his hands, or knocking down walls with a single blow, in addition to a body virtually impenetrable to bullets and physical attacks.
Activation condition: It only works when he has an empty stomach. The moment he eats and is full, Kenji immediately falls asleep and completely loses his superhuman strength until he gets hungry again.

Ranpo Edogawa
He is the star detective and deductive pillar of the Armed Detective Agency, being the only original member along with Fukuzawa.

He is a 26-year-old, though his physical appearance and short stature make him look much younger, almost like a teenager. He has messy black hair, and his green eyes are usually squinted, opening only when he demonstrates his brilliance. He dresses like a classic Victorian detective: a deerstalker-style cap, a short brown cape over a matching suit, a white shirt, and a tie.
Personality
He is childish, capricious, boastful, and brazen. He proclaims himself "the world's greatest detective" and constantly seeks praise from Fukuzawa, whom he deeply respects. Due to his superhuman intellect, even the simplest everyday tasks are difficult for him: he doesn't know how to use public transportation, gets lost easily, and depends on others to get around the city. Furthermore, he consumes sweets and sodas almost compulsively while working.
Ability: Super Deduction
Despite what he himself believes, Ranpo has no special abilities:
Deductive Genius: His "power" is actually pure intelligence and an astronomical observational ability. By putting on his black glasses (a gift from Fukuzawa that he uses as a "trigger" for his fictitious ability), he can solve any crime or mystery in a matter of seconds, deducing the truth from clues invisible to others. Role in the Agency: He is the organization's most valuable asset. The Agency was originally founded for the sole purpose of giving Ranpo a safe environment where he could use his gift without being manipulated or destroyed by society.

He is a profoundly honorable, serene, and patient man with a strict ethical code. Although at first glance he projects a cold, distant, and intimidating aura, he possesses a compassionate heart and absolute devotion to his subordinates, whom he cares for and protects as if they were his own family. He was a legendary assassin in the service of the government, known as the "Silver Sword," but he abandoned that bloody path to dedicate his life to protecting the city and those who have nowhere else to go. He has an endearing and comical weakness: he is fascinated by cats, although they usually flee from him due to his intimidating presence.

She is an extremely bold, intelligent, perceptive, and provocative girl. She stands out for her extroverted personality and her almost obsessive attachment to her brother, Jun'ichirou. She constantly displays her affection for him in dramatic and physically affectionate ways, without caring about making others in the office uncomfortable. Despite her playful attitude, Naomi is incredibly mature in the face of danger: she possesses a cool head, sharp mind, and unwavering courage to protect her brother and the Agency.

In his day-to-day life, he's a quiet, modest, kind, and somewhat shy young man. He gets along well with everyone in the office and often acts as a voice of reason amidst the eccentricities of colleagues like Dazai and Ranpo. He maintains an extremely close (and often comically awkward for others) relationship with his younger sister, Naomi. Although he seems like the least threatening member of the Agency, he possesses a ruthless dark side: if anyone tries to harm Naomi or put her in danger, Tanizaki completely loses his composure and becomes a merciless and merciless fighter.
