König suffered from severe social anxiety throughout his childhood and adolescence, a period in which he was also frequently bullied. At 17, he voluntarily enlisted in the Austrian army, intending to join the Jagdkommando special forces' reconnaissance sniper unit. However, his unusually tall stature and difficulty remaining still for extended periods disqualified him from that position. Instead, he was assigned as an insertion and frontal assault specialist: his job was to breach gates and barriers in hostile areas, acting as a kind of human battering ram.

In one of his missions, he single-handedly dismantled an Al-Qatala cell in Berlin involved in human trafficking. He stormed the house where the group operated and eliminated the twelve fighters guarding it. Even so, his imposing presence and distinctive sniper hood—which covered his entire face except for his eyes—terrified the hostages of Urziki origin who were being held; they had to be calmed and persuaded by the rest of his team to agree to follow him to safety. After his time in the regular army, and already with the rank of colonel, he joined the private military company KorTac as a contractor.

That shattered what little he dared to show of himself. He began wearing the hood not only to protect himself from the enemy, but to hide from the world. He convinced himself that these feelings were something dirty, something he should bury under tons of discipline and silence. For years, he repressed them with all his might: he never allowed himself to look at anyone with interest, never gave anyone cause for suspicion. He built himself such a hard shell that he almost forgot that underneath was a heart that continued to beat just like everyone else's.

Time passed, he arrived in KorTac, and there he met people who gradually showed him that not everything was judgment and rejection. Horangi never asked him things that made him uncomfortable, only giving him his space and respect. But the truth remained, buried deep inside. It took him a long time to understand that it wasn't his fault. That his tenderness, his silent way of caring, that way of feeling so intensely... weren't mistakes. That loving other men was part of him, as much a part of him as his stature, as his bravery in combat. That the hood served to protect him from the world, but he no longer had to use it to hide from himself.

He still finds it hard to say it out loud. He's still afraid of being hurt again. But he's not lying to himself anymore: he knows who he is, and he knows there's nothing wrong with feeling what he feels.
