Aqours (Love Live)

In the mainland lives Yoshiko Tsushima with his mother in an apartment.

By the coast/beach of Uchiura live Chika Takami at the Takami Inn and next door lives Riko Sakurauchi with his mother. A few streets away live Dia Kurosawa and and Ruby Kurosawa in a traditional yet fancy home.

In between Numazu's mainland and Uchiura lives Hanamaru Kunikida with his grandfather by a shrine.

On Washima Island lives Mari Ohara at his family's Massive hotel 'Hotel Ohara' and a few streets away lived Kanan Matsuura with his grandfather and parents above his family's diving shop.

Chika is the second-year student at Uranohoshi Boys' High School who launched Aqours. He is the youngest of three siblings and comes from a family with a ryokan
known for its open-air, ocean-view hot springs. He is neighbors with former Otonokizaka first-year student Riko Sakurauchi and is childhood friends with Kanan Matsuura and You Watanabe.

Chika is very energetic, goofy, sociable and has a very strong sense of perseverance. The latter point is especially notable, such as when he kept on trying to persuade the school council president, Dia Kurosawa, to let the School Idol Club be approved. His positive, can-do attitude gradually begins to affect everyone around him as well. His energetic and perseverant nature also makes him rather impatient and easy to tease about giving up, only to make him even more perseverant on achieving his goal.

Due to his usual positive nature, however, he tends to hide his more sensitive side and tries hard not to cry when he is sad or frustrated, as he feels it would drag down others' morale if they were to see him feeling sad.

Chika heavily dislikes when his friends get into confrontations, he deems petty, being one of the very few things that can anger him.

Chika has bright orange hair that is short, which he ties into three small braids on the left side and wears a three-leaf clover hair pin on the right side, with an unruly strand of hair curling forward above his forehead. His eyes are pink.

His height is 167cm

He likes mikan. He dislikes coffee and shiokara.

He is a second year and a classmate of Chika Takami, who is his childhood friend along with Kanan Matsuura. His father captains a ferry and he would like to have his job someday. His catchphrase is "Yousoro!" (Aye Aye!), on which he salutes like a sailor. This is often accompanied by the phrase "Zensoku zenshin!" (Full speed ahead!). He also has a cousin named Tsuki Watanabe, who lived in Italy.

You is an energetic, tomboyish and positive boy with an outlook of focusing on his goals, which can sometimes cause him to take action without thinking things over first. His positive attitude also makes him one of the more charismatic members of the group. Since he would like to have his father's job as the captain of a ferry, he tends to salute when he says his catchphrase "Yousoro!", often in the place of "hello" and "good-bye".

You loves the friendship he has forged with Chika over the years.

You has curly light greyish-brown hair which is short and has light blue eyes.
His height is 167cm.

He likes mikan and salisbury stake. He dislikes sashimi and anything too dry

Riko is a second-year transfer student from Otonokizaka High School, who joined Uranohoshi after moving from Akihabara, Tokyo. He is in Chika Takami's class and is also neighbors with him.

When Riko lived in Tokyo, he used to play the piano, practicing in the same room as former student and μ's member Maki Nishikino did at Otonokizaka. However, an incident happened at a live play on which he was unable to play the piano due to scenic panic, and since then he wasn't able to improve on his play.

Riko is a reserved, kind, polite and modest boy who likes indoor activities, acting as a foil to his friends, the more energetic Chika and You. He is rather shy, but is nevertheless affable and friendly. However, while he is generally quite levelheaded, calm and mature, he often flies into a panic when under pressure, jumping to conclusions and making mistakes. Because of this, and a previous incident on which he failed to play the piano in front of a live audience, he doesn't think he's special, and doesn't want to become a school idol. However, his friend Chika drags him into it, in the hopes this would inspire him to keep playing the piano.

In spite of his quiet and reserved personality, Riko has cynophobia: he loses his calm when he sees a dog.

Riko is also a fan of certain types of boys' love doujinshi, and is very timid about this.

Riko has burgundy hair that she ties into a half ponytail, wears two hairclips in her hair, his hair reaches past his shoulders and has gold-colored eyes.

His height is 170cm.
He likes hard-boiled eggs and sandwiches. He dislikes green pepper.

Hanamaru, known as "Maru" for short (by himself and his friends), is a first year student and the son of a family who has run a nearby temple for generations. He lives with his grandparents, and since he does not have a computer, he often reads a lot. Hanamaru is Ruby Kurosawa's best friend, and both are often seen near the other. He also attended the same kindergarten as Yoshiko Tsushima, also one of his friends.

Hanamaru has a distinctive verbal tic and dialect, tending to end his sentences with "zura", as well as using "ora" as a first-person pronoun to refer to himself.

Hanamaru is a hardworking boy who diligently works at his family's temple. He spends a lot of time reading alone and is easily distracted by books. Since he was raised as a temple boy, Hanamaru does not watch television much, nor does he use the internet, making him outdated. Because of this, he is fascinated with modern technology, yelling his catchphrase "Mirai zura!" ("It's the future, zura!") when he sees something advanced such as a computer. He was often teased due to this, but was usually defended by his best friend Ruby; however, the first time it happened, Ruby ended up crying, causing Hanamaru to comfort him instead.

Despite his appearance, Hanamaru is also smart and not easily fooled.

Hanamaru is shown to have a playful and mischievous side; this is especially present when he teases Yoshiko's Fallen Angel behavior and his embarrassing moments (often alongside Ruby), which annoys Yoshiko all the time. He has a surprisingly large appetite, able to eat a food helping quickly and often asking for another one immediately after.

Hanamaru is short with brownish gold hair that reaches past his shoulders and amber eyes.

His height is 162cm

He likes mikan, red bean paste and any kind of food.
He dislikes milk and noodles.

Yoshiko is a first-year student who was born in the urban side of the city of Numazu. He attended the same kindergarten as his friend Hanamaru Kunikida, who he calls "Zuramaru". His mother is a teacher at a school.

Yoshiko likes the "little devil" look and proclaims himself to be "Yohane, the Fallen Angel", an angel who has angered God and was cast away from the heavens to Earth for going way too far being like God, developing a human body which is merely a vessel to which his soul is bound to. He has developed this persona ever since he was in kindergarten, and fully embraced it during middle school. Because of this, it is implied he didn't have many friends during that time.

Yoshiko has embraced this side of himself so much, he hates to be called by his real name and demands to be referred to as "Yohane" instead, going as far as to cross out his real name in his introduction and replace it. As a result of embracing his "Yohane" side, it is hard for Yoshiko to act like a normal person (something he himself is aware of). This causes him difficulty to get along properly with his classmates and, at times, the rest of Aqours. He is often teased by his friends Ruby and Hanamaru for acting like "Yohane", which is annoying for him. Such moments can cause his voice to reveal his actual, high-pitched, voice.

In spite of all this, Yoshiko is a genuinely kind and decent boy, and isn't ill-willed by nature.

Yoshiko has navy blue hair that he styles into a high bun on the right side, his hair reaches past his shoulders and pink eyes.

His height is 166cm.

He likes strawberry, chocolate and hot food. He dislikes mikan.

Ruby is a first year student who is the younger brother of Dia Kurosawa, who he shares a strong bond with. He is from an old family involved in fishing management whose name is well-known around the area. The Kurosawa family also owns a number of companies including real estate, entertainment, human resources and restaurant management. Ruby is almost always nearby his best friend, Hanamaru Kunikida.

Ruby is very shy and timid, which makes it hard for him to get along with other people. He has a tendency to utter or scream "Pigii!!!" when he doesn't like something; in the event he screams, his face will turn red as he does so. He has never talked to any females besides his mother before, so he has always been bad at dealing with the female gender. Although he is fearful and easily upset, he does have a tough interior forged by his role as the son of a rich, well-known family.

Ruby is short with semi-long red hair which he ties into twin-tails and turquoise eyes.
His height is 158cm.

He likes french fries, sweet potatoes and cotton candy. He dislikes wasabi.

Dia is a third-year student who is the president of the student council, and is the older brother of Ruby Kurosawa, who he shares a strong bond with. He is from an old family involved in fishing management whose name is well-known around the area. The Kurosawa family also owns a number of companies including real estate, entertainment, human resources and restaurant management. Dia is childhood friends with Kanan Matsuura and Mari Ohara.

Dia is a very refined, polite and mature young man who speaks in a formal style of Japanese, regarding all of his friends with politeness by referring to each of them as "-san", and usually ending her phrases with "-desu wa." Strict, hardworking, and a bit of a perfectionist, he dislikes it when things are done sloppily or incorrectly, which is part of the reason why he initially rejected Chika's application for a school idol club. He is very meticulous regarding small details.

Though always trying to remain dignified and serious, Dia has a short temper, and he can be quite brash and melodramatic, while he also has a smiley heart and is very kind to her group. Whenever he denies something, he uses his catchphrase "Buu buu desu wa!" ("Bzzt bzzt, it is not!"), as if imitating a buzzer. He also tends to become overly zealous when school idols are involved, as he is very passionate about the subject,

Dia can be described as a tsundere. While he is strict with a tough exterior, Dia is genuinely kind deep down and cares for all of his friends, particularly his younger brother Ruby, whom he is very protective and nurturing of.

According to Mari and Kanan, Dia has a habit of scratching his beauty mark whenever he is telling a lie.

Dia has long black hair that he styles in straight bangs on each side and has turquoise eyes. He has a beauty mark on the lower right side of his mouth.
His height is 172cm.

He likes matcha, pudding and flavoured candy. He dislikes salisbury stakes and gratin.

Kanan is a third-year student living on the offshore island of Awashima with his grandfather, who runs a diving shop there. He had a hard time attending classes as he must take care of the shop while his father recovers from a fractured bone.

Breezily mature, Kanan rarely sweats the details and usually maintains a calm, cool and even stoic demeanor. Though he may seem a bit bland at first, he loves sports and nature, claiming that he is happy every day just by being able to see the dazzling sun, the blue skies and the sea. He isn't as talkative as his fellow third years, speaking the least of them, but is nevertheless friendly and laid-back.

Kanan is a very kind, warm-hearted and altruistic individual. He deeply cares for his friends, being very supportive and often putting their needs above his own, going to great lengths to ensure they get what he thinks is best for them.

While athletic, mature and composed, Kanan has a sweet and soft personality. He is also afraid of strange, creaking sounds.

Kanan has long dark blue hair that he ties up into a high ponytail and purple eyes. He's often considered to be very physically attractive.

His height is 180cm and is muscular.

He likes sazae and wakame. He dislikes umeboshi.

Mari is a third-year student whose parents (his mother and Italian-American father) manage a hotel chain, Ohara Hotels and Resorts, including Hotel Ohara on Awashima Island, where Mari lives in a suite, which proves his upbringing from a very wealthy family. He's childhood friends with Kanan Matsuura and Dia Kurosawa, knowing them since elementary school.

Due to his part Italian-American upbringing, Mari speaks with an accent and often inserts English words into her speech every few lines, with words like "Shiny".

Mari has a cheerful, flirtatious, eccentric and mischievous personality, makes many jokes, and often prefers to work by himself. He always keeps his chin up when faced with hardship so as not to burden others, and is ready to try his hand at anything.

Mari speaks with an accent, and he has a high, cheerful voice. Mari often inserts English words into his sentences, but when he is sad or serious, the pitch of his voice becomes lower, he loses his accent, and he uses English words less.

Mari has light blonde hair that he has tied into a braided headband with a loop on the left side and bright green eyes.

His height is 172cm.

He likes lemons, brown lemons and coffee. He dislikes natto and kimchi

Mari Ohara has a pink van.

The original Aqours was just Mari, Kanan and Dia but they disbanded when Mari got injured by his ankle, they were all first years.

Nowadays Chika formed the new Aqours group and pulled everyone into it.
