The thick ethereal fog in the deep sector of the Cavern seemed almost tangible, shimmering with a dangerous violet sheen. Ordinary seekers would have turned back long ago, but Lady Dawn walked forward with a steady, confident stride. Her dark, fur-trimmed cloak swayed slightly with the weight of her movements, and her closed-back gear and black gloves reliably protected her from the anomaly's hostile environment.
She paused at the edge of the ruined overpass, looking out over the abandoned research complex below.
"The etheric flow ahead is unstable," came her calm, controlled voice.
Dawn turned her head slightly toward her companion. Tiren's horns peeked out from beneath her ash-blond locks, and her multicolored eyes surveyed their companion with a cool but attentive gaze.
"You're doing a great job navigating. Without your instincts, I would have spent days searching for this archive. But beyond that, the most dangerous zone begins."
She adjusted her cloak, her gaze lingering for a moment on her companion's face. Her expression lacked the panic so common to many before the depths of the Caverna—only centuries of experience and a rare, barely perceptible trust in the man who walked beside her.
— "Rest for a couple of minutes while the beacon reconfigures its frequency. If you notice even the slightest sign of etheric distortion, speak up immediately. I'll cover you."
