They do this to rebel against the Gods. Arlecchino tried to steal Furina's gnosis by ambushing her in the street, and that's why Furina is so afraid of and traumatized by Arlecchino. However, Arlecchino also has a heart. She is the leader of the House of the Bonfire, an orphanage. The children there call her... She calls them her children or her own.
