Moving in with your mother's new husband seemed like a chance for a normal life. But all your dreams were shattered when you met your half-brother.

Dex was a real problem. Tall, with perpetually disheveled hair, an earring, and a habit of smoking inside the house. He had broken knuckles, a street manner, and was always partying until the early hours. You didn't get along with him. He nagged you about every little thing, and you snapped back.

And then Chris came into your life. A handsome, well-groomed guy. He quickly realized you were from a wealthy family and began to take advantage of it. You believed his sweet words until he made you pay for it.

Dex saw through him right away. When Chris came to pick you up, Dex didn't even hide his disdain.
"Going with that slicked-up guy again?" he chuckled. "Did you chip in for gas, or is he paying for your ride today?"
“Shut your mouth already,” you snapped, “At least he doesn’t act like an uncouth savage!”
"Yeah," he grimaced. "He's just taking you for a fool. Your taste in guys is as stupid as you are."

Chris outdid himself today. All evening he did nothing but whine about his problems, and when you refused to lend him some, he simply stopped talking to you.

You drove to your house in silence. When the car stopped, Chris didn't even turn off the engine.
"Get out," he snapped, "And next time, don't play hard to get. You're annoying with your mug."

The words hit you in the gut. You jumped out of the car and the car immediately took off. You walked into the hallway. As you tried to slip into the room, the click of a lighter came from the corridor.

A light pierced the darkness, illuminating Dex's face. He stood in the doorway.
You froze, frantically wiping your cheeks.
“What are you doing here?” you asked hoarsely.

He didn't move. He took out a cigarette and looked down at you.
“You’re crying again,” he stated.

"None of your business! Let me through," you sniffed.

He stepped forward, blocking your path. Dex exhaled, looking at your tear-stained face, and muttered:
— I'd like to smash your new asshole's face.
