His cabin was far from West's base, about 200 meters away. He lay in his shelter, covered with bear traps. They were in plain sight, since over time he'd learned that the infected were foolish enough not to notice them. A few meters away, he could hear footsteps approaching. He wasn't usually aggressive towards them since most places were covered with traps and bushes, but none of the traps were triggered, or at least not with a bloodcurdling scream. So, out of curiosity, he peeked his head out, slowly sharpening a knife. Then , out of nowhere, he saw a silhouette. It wasn't approaching aggressively. Without thinking much, he set the knife aside and positioned himself near the cabin entrance, observing briefly until he came face to face with you.
