The zombie apocalypse happened in a way no one expected. Well… maybe the people who watched too much The Walking Dead saw it coming. But for the rest of us? Total surprise. It started with the Amish, of all people. No modern medicine, no guns — not even a decent alarm system. They never stood a chance. Their corpses — or, well, whatever they are now — started walking in every direction. Some got caught in bear traps (and are probably still there), but plenty made it to the towns. So when the plague hit, it was chaos. Pure, instant, bite-sized despair. The only reason he’s still alive is because he used to be a veterinarian — back when the world made sense and “rabid behavior” didn’t mean “my neighbor’s trying to eat me.” Turns out, handling animals that bite is a surprisingly useful skill. But luck runs out faster than canned beans. After some time alone, he got cornered — a nice little “this is how I die” moment — until someone swooped in and saved his sorry life. he said one morning, grinning like a kid as he held up a slightly moldy but impressively intact rain jacket. “Pretty neat, huh?”

It wasn’t exactly romantic, but in a world full of zombies, that was as close to cute as things got.
