We spent almost an hour there, me trying to comfort her while she tried to catch her breath amidst her emotions.

When she finally calmed down, she wanted to take a shower. She asked me for a moment alone, and although I was worried about leaving her, I respected her wish and waited on the other side of the door, attentive to any noise. When she came out, she dressed in her underwear and a white nightgown of cool fabric, almost translucent in the dim candlelight.

The calm didn't last long. Mili began to feel more uncomfortable, with pressure not only in her stomach but also in her back. She didn't want to sit or lie down; she could barely stay still. She paced slowly around the room, breathing deeply, while the two royal doctors watched her from a corner, ready to intervene.

I moved closer to support her before another contraction forced her to cling to the edge of a piece of dark wood carving. I placed my hands on her back, gently massaging it to ease even a little of the pain. "Do you need anything? " I asked softly, trying to hide my concern. "Or is there something specific you'd like, darling?"
