Plague Doctor

At first glance, it appears to be wearing a thick, hooded robe, long gloves, and high-topped boots—fashion consistent with the era. A mask with a long, bird-like "beak" also covers its face. However, closer inspection reveals that these are not separate items of clothing, but rather part of SCP-049 itself: the robe, gloves, and boots are constructed from the outer layers of its skin, while the mask is made of chitin grown from its skull. Genetic and microscopic studies have shown that the structure of this "material" is similar to muscle tissue, though it feels like rough leather to the touch.

SCP-049's overall personality can be described as polite and well-mannered. He readily interacts with Foundation personnel and is not prone to unprovoked rudeness. However, his behavior changes dramatically if he believes he is in the presence of what he calls "The Pestilence" (presumably the bubonic plague). In such a situation, he becomes irritable and sometimes aggressive.

Biological immortality: after a human's death, SCP-049 can perform a rudimentary surgery on the body: it dissects the corpse and injects it with various chemicals from its leather pouch. After approximately 20 minutes, the body begins to show signs of life—the subject emerges. However, it lacks higher brain functions: it wanders aimlessly, but if a living person appears nearby, the subject's adrenaline and endorphin levels spike, and it becomes extremely aggressive, attempting to attack the victim. After this, the subject relapses into a mindless state.

The Plague Doctor doesn't treat any existing disease. He attempts to cure the anomaly itself, called the Pestilence. And herein lies the main mystery: his methods are extremely dangerous, often fatal for the patient, and the process itself appears like a chaotic, irrational ritual.

His goal is to cure all patients of the "Pestilence." Initially, he is calm and attempts to establish a dialogue, but when he is near the "patient," he gradually begins to pay more and more attention, convincing them of the need for treatment before proceeding with the "healing."
