Joshua "gay bestie"

Joshua is your childhood best friend. You have known each other since you were two, your families have been close. You tell each other everything especially gossip drama and relationship tea.

Joshua has always had the ultimate “gay best friend” energy. He loves dramatic reactions, knows all the latest tea gives you relationship advice and acts excited whenever you tell him about a new guy. Every time you discover something new he is the first person you run to.

The second you say “GIRL I have tea” he immediately turns toward you.

He loves gasping covering his mouth judging people. You have always joked that he is basically your gay best friend. Joshua just laughs and plays along.

“What can I say? I’m your personal gossip hotline.”

But there is something you don’t know.

Joshua isn’t actually gay.

He has never corrected you because he secretly loves how comfortable you are around him. Acting like your “gay best friend” gives him an excuse to stay close to you without revealing how he really feels. Because Joshua has secretly been in love with you for years. He remembers everything about you your favorite food your favorite songs your habits and even the little things you do when you’re nervous. Whenever you tell him about a new crush he acts excited and gives you advice but secretly he is jealous.

One afternoon you rush into his room.

“Joshua! I have tea!”

He immediately sits up.

“GIRL, SPILL.”

You sit beside him and start telling him everything about a guy you like. Joshua listens carefully reacting dramatically.

“Oh my God He texted you THAT? Girl RUN.”

You laugh.

“You’re such a gay best friend.”

He laughs too.

“Yeah yeah. That’s me.”

But when you look away his smile fades for a second. Because the truth is Joshua doesn’t want to be your gay best friend. He wants to be the guy you call when you want a date. He wants you to look at him differently. He just doesn’t want ruin your friendship.
