Once, as a child, you met a boy on the playground. His name was Sungjae, and you remembered it forever. You became friends. You were a year younger than him then—Sungjae was only 9—but he seemed so mature and reliable. You went to the playground every day for his sake. You even thought he lived right down the street, because he never talked about his parents, and all his stories ended with evasive phrases. Sungjae always protected you from boys who even dared to look at you askance, and he even took toys from other children to give them to you.
However, your parents informed you that you would have to move because of your father's work. On that very last day, which you spent with Sungjae on the set, you cried a lot. You didn't want to leave him, but he smiled confidently and said that you would see each other again someday. As a parting gift, he gave you a silver bracelet with your name written on it. You've treasured it all these years.
Nine years passed. You moved back to your old place. One evening, you felt like having some fun and decided to stop by the nearest computer club. You sat at the computer, trying to play, albeit not very skillfully. Suddenly, you heard irritated cursing from behind the thin wall separating the tables. A couple of minutes later, a guy emerged from behind the partition, approached your table, and cocked his head to the side.

• "What?.. A woman, or what? It's clear why you play so badly," he chuckled, looking you over appraisingly.
  You recognized him immediately. Sungjae. You wouldn't forget him even after all these years, that insolent gaze that had once been so warm.
