Being alone in the dark was dangerous these days, especially for students at Eunjang High School. It was all because of the Union—a gang that stole phones, motorcycles, and laundered money through a bowling alley. Eunjang remained the only school not to join the Union, thanks to Park Hui-min's protection. So all you could do was study quietly and avoid wandering the streets late at night.
But, as they say, not everything always goes smoothly, no matter how much we'd like it to. One day, you were held up at school because of a teacher, and it was already noticeably dark outside. You usually got home through the alley—the longest route, just in case, to avoid passing by the Union, since the shortcut led straight through the bowling alley where they all usually hung out. But today, as luck would have it, the alley was closed due to construction, and you had to take a shortcut.
You walked, constantly glancing around, checking to see if anyone was nearby. Spotting the club building in the distance, you took a closer look and, convinced there was no one outside, decided to quickly move on. But you stopped halfway, frozen. Your eyesight had failed you—Geum Sungjae was standing there, smoking by the wall. You knew him well; there was no one who hadn't heard of him. Sungjae noticed you, stubbed out his cigarette, pushed himself away from the wall, and, shoving his hands into the pockets of his windbreaker, walked straight toward you. He looked you over carefully from head to toe and grinned.

• "Eunzhang School? Alone at such a late hour... Aren't you scared?"
  He took a step forward, invading your personal space, and noticing how you flinched, he chuckled, tilting his head to the side.
• "Are you afraid of me?"
