Haru is a character who is known for his never-ending work as the captain of the Jabberwock House — Being cheerful and funny are also important factors along with his determination and hard work.

Haru is a very hard worker, spending most of his time dealing with anomalies and taking care of their needs, and is also quite good at standing up to the intense workload that comes with Jabberwock.

Furthermore, Haru shows his determination and stubbornness to "put things in place" with the other house members. For example, he goes to great lengths to break Ren's motivation — such as putting a tracking device on him and forcing him out of his room.

Furthermore, he is constantly planning marketing strategies to increase the popularity of Jabberwock and its tour, by any means possible. These include unwittingly instigating/enabling flirtatious comments by the general Frostheim girls by offering a free boat ride with him if they get enough stamps, passing out flyers to anyone and everyone, even to MC, admitting he was so busy talking, he didn't recognize her. He will also push the tour in any circumstances, even with inappropriate timing. An example would be Haru coming to Ren's job and introducing himself to the MC in exchange for giving her “mates' rates” to encourage her to come on the tour.

His encouraging and motivating words can prove that he is quite an optimistic person. Haru makes jokes and has a personality befitting a leader, proving himself fit to be the Jabberwock captain.

Haru has short red hair that fades into a dark gradient, with pale skin and an average build. He is the second shortest of the ghouls, after Kaito.

His Darkwick Academy uniform consists of an orange vest, a black and orange necktie, black gloves, black pants, a pin chain on his collar and ear piercings on both of his ears. The right ear is gauged with an earring through in the middle, while the left ear has an earring going through two holes in the earlobe.

He often has a teal sling bag on him used as a carrier for Peekaboo. Haru's right arm is a prosthetic with functional joints, which he keeps covered with his black gloves.

When he first transferred to Jabberwock, he had slightly longer hair on the back; it is also revealed in "Episode 22: Who Killed Robin? Act II", that when he fully opens his eyes, he has silver irises. Haru tends to always have her eyes closed, she rarely opens them.

Jabberwock's in charge of looking after all the anomalous animals in Darkwick's custody. I heard they started a safari park there recently.

The Jabberwock House is one of the seven active houses in Darkwick Academy, and one of the two houses led by Professor Hyde as his advisor.

His captain is Haru Sagara, supported by vice captain Towa Otonashi. Jabberwock is well known for its students who act as caretakers for anomalous creatures on the campus.

Jabberwock is shown to be a nature reserve for anomalous creatures. The weather is constantly changing, one minute it might be sunny, and the next, snow.

It has a large, varied environment, with everything from grassy fields, mountains, and damp caves for the various creatures taken care of by Jabberwock to live.

Not much is known about Jabberwock's past, except that it was hinted by Haru to have been part of the neutral faction during the events of The Clash.

Some time ago, the house had gone into a severe lack of funds; while Haru transferred from Dionysia after it became defunct. As of the current school year onwards, Jabberwock no longer accepts non-ghoul students for an unspecified reason.

Jabberwock House
Towa Otonashi: Haru gets along well with Towa, with the latter usually obeying Haru's words. He often has to keep Towa in check and stop him from causing trouble on the Jabberwock grounds. It was revealed that Haru gave Towa his name and taught him how to write in Japanese.
Ren Shiranami: Haru is determined to make Ren help out around the dorm, even going as far as putting a tracker on him. Despite Ren's efforts to keep Haru out of his room, Haru persists by coming in through the window or picking the lock on Ren's door to wake him up for his tasks.

Sinostra House
Taiga Hoshibami: On several instances, Taiga is seen attempting to eat or convincing Haru to let him eat Haru's (self-described) child, Peekaboo. The two are speculated to be close with each other.
Romeo Lucci: Haru will occasionally bump into Romeo in the bar. The two appear to be drinking buddies.

Obscuary House
Rui Mizuki: Haru is a regular at Rui's bar and frequently blows at him.
Lyca Colt:He says Haru kept bugging him to try out the Jabberwock's safari park, which Lyca admitted to enjoying.

Dionysia House
Mio Susuhara:Mio was the one who built Haru's prosthetic arm. When Dionysia is released from containment, Haru goes to Mio for repairs. Mio also offers to make Haru's old locker lock from the inside so that he can sleep in there without fearing that Shion will find him.
Elias Pratt:Elias helps Haru with a lot. He was the one who secured the capybus for Jabberwock.
Shion Genkai:Shion is implied to be Haru's old performance partner from when he was in Dionysia, but it has not been outright stated. The two used to be close, but Shion hates him now because he left their family. The Ultimate Spectacle. Shion was the one who originally broke Haru's arm. Mio fixed it for him. After Shion caused damage to the casino, Haru covered the expenses.
Others
Peekaboo: According to Haru, Peekaboo bit him for the first three days after they met. But, they've since become inseparable best friends.

According to Ren, Haru transferred to Jabberwock from another house. Janitor Elias later reveals that Haru used to be a member of Dionysia, where he was an acrobat.

Haru (suddenly, per Elias) transferred to Jabberwock at least six months before the beginning of the story, implied by Haru's episode 3 comment that it "only took [him] six months to learn the ropes."

Haru's right arm is a prosthetic which he appears to be able to use as a normal hand. How Haru lost his arm and the origins of the prosthetic are unclear, but Taiga implies that someone named "Mio" performed repairs on the arm at some point in time.

In Episode 17, he reveals he has only recently become a pacifist, implying that he had become so during or shortly after the events of The Clash. It is also revealed that he briefly lived in Okayama for a year, moving around a few times in his youth.

In Episode 21, during Taiga and Haru's conversation aboard the Galaxy Express, Taiga reveals that Haru was the type of messy wherein he would wear his shoes to step on things such as furniture before Kongoza straightened him up.

In Episode 22, it is revealed by Taiga that, before transferring to Jabberwock, Haru used to be a thief, which was first hinted in Episode 16. Towa also reveals that Haru was the one who named him and taught him how to write.
