you were walking like any other day until a portal opened and sucked you in. When you fell to the other side you saw that place (which, I admit, I don't remember the name of and I'm too lazy to look it up again, so oh well—you'll figure it out; I'll upload another updated one later). You get confused and explore a bit until you run into The kinght, Cupheap, shovel knight, Badeline, Badeline, Niko, and Quirrel (I don't remember all the characters, I only remember those). They stop when they see you
shovel knight: Who are you? before you can even answer, Cupheaf interrupts you thinking you some are a bad guy
Cuphead: Enemy!,I don't trust them.
trivia 4
MORØ has deconfirmed indie animated shows appearing in Indie Cross, as the series is only for indie games.
While the series is confirmed to have 6 episodes, the series would be cancelled or cut short if future episodes are not successful enough in views to continue it, but it can also be extended if necessary.
If the series does get cancelled, MORØ states he will reveal unseen elements of the story such as planned characters, planned plot points, etc.
Heart Machine (developers of Hyper Light Drifter) and Future Cat LLC (developers of OneShot) are the only original creators of the main characters who have acknowledged the series.
Heart Machine has acknowledged series multiple times. The first instance was with the Judgement teaser, with them quote tweeting with the caption "The #hyperlightdrifter animated series you didn't expect" (not to be confused with the upcoming animated series produced by well-known producer Adi Shankar).[47] They have since then reposted posts from MORØ as well as fanart and animations related to the series.
The official OneShot Twitter account tweeted about Indie Cross multiple times.
The first instance was quote tweeting the Niko teaser with the caption "look ma! I'm on TV!".
The second instance was posting a GIF of Niko throwing Molotov cocktails, with the caption: "Have you seen this creature in Indie Cross? Do you want to learn more about them? You too can experience a once in a lifetime journey with Niko in OneShot! #OneShotGame". Posted with the tweet was a link to the game with a 50% discount on Steam.
MORØ quote tweeted this tweet with "One shot is now 50% off until May 8th! It's like 3$! Go Get it If you're interested! :)".
trivia 3
V1 and Zagreus are not part of this image despite being main characters.
MORØ has stated that while there is still room for cameos, the main cast is set in stone.
While Indie Cross represents a wide array of indie game series, there are plenty of indie games that have been deconfirmed by MORØ.
MORØ has deconfirmed Pizza Tower many times for a variety of reasons.
MORØ deconfirmed OMORI, as he hadn't played the game.
MORØ deconfirmed any former indie game currently owned by big studios. Examples being Little Nightmares and Minecraft.
MORØ deconfirmed Cult of the Lamb, as the game was too recent. This would automatically deconfirm any indie game from 2022 and onward.
MORØ deconfirmed Dispatch, as he didn't want to represent a game simply because it's new and popular.
Despite the Eye of Ctulhu cameo, MORØ deconfirmed Terraria, as he believed it was near impossible to implement the Terrarian.
Despite many references, MORØ deconfirmed Deltarune, as he didn't want to include another game made by Toby Fox, who is already represented by Undertale.
Any characters from Friday Night Funkin' have automatically been deconfirmed since he has left the game behind and wants his series to be separate from the mod.
Trivia 2
The silhouettes in the teaser are Shovel Knight from the Shovel Knight series, Cuphead from the Cuphead series, Frisk from Undertale, Hornet from the Hollow Knight series, Madeline from Celeste, the Beheaded from Dead Cells, the Drifter from Hyper Light Drifter, Niko from OneShot, Ori from the Ori series, Meat Boy from the Super Meat Boy series, and Six from the Little Nightmares series.
While the image itself is outdated,MORØ has said that two characters from this list didn't make it.[25] The statement could be referring to Hornet and Six.
Hornet is most likely cut in order for all the main characters to share the same theme, which is all of them being the main protagonists of their respective games. This teaser was also made back when it was believed Silksong would come out in 2023. When the delay was announced, this is likely when Hornet was scrapped. MORØ also confirmed that Hornet won't appear in the series in any way.
It is debatable if Little Nightmares is still an indie franchise, as while Tarsier Studios developed the first two installments, the IP was handed to and is currently owned by Bandai Namco Entertainment after Tarsier Studios was acquired by Embracer Group.MORØ has indirectly deconfirmed Six by saying he wouldn't include any franchise that is no longer being worked on by its original creator and was given to a larger company.
Trivia
The series is inspired by The Subspace Emissary, the story mode of the platformer-brawler game Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
MORØ drew inspiration from the anime series Chainsaw Man and the animated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish for combat choreography.
There are, so far, a total of 22 indie games featured in Indie Cross. That being Shovel Knight, Cuphead, Undertale, Hollow Knight, Celeste, Dead Cells, Hyper Light Drifter, OneShot, Five Nights at Freddy's, ULTRAKILL, Hades, and Cave Story as the main representatives, with cameos from Choo-Choo Charles, Terraria, Hello Neighbor, Henry Stickmin, Deltarune, Hotline Miami, Untitled Goose Game, Rivals of Aether, Among Us, and Alien Hominid.Helltaker was planned to appear during Cuphead's cutaway gag in Episode 2, but it was cut because it would have made the scene too long. But it may appear in a future episode.
Bendy from his titular series may appear as a cameo but won't be important to the story.[19] It's also possible that he could be fully cut due to pacing.
If he does end up in the series, both the cartoon Bendy and Ink Demon will be used.
Said Ink Demon form will probably be based on the unused design from Dark Revival, with the design from the final game serving as a second form.
Based on the silhouette teaser from December 6, 2022, Ori and Super Meat Boy are also planned to appear in the future for now.
Little Nightmares was also planned to appear in the series. However, it ultimately did not make it to the final version due to its current state as a non-indie game series.
stuff 2
On December 6, 2022, MORØ posted an image featuring the silhouettes of the indie game characters who were going to appear in the series as the main characters. Each episode would be about 10 minutes long (which ultimately was avoided in order for the series to have better pacing). After plenty of teasers, the series eventually debuted with its first episode on May 19, 2023, which was met with a positive reception but also criticized for its pacing and lip-sync animation. After the animation Helluva Boss VS. Murder Drones, MORØ started developing Episode 2. With the critiques in mind, MORØ decided to take his time with Episode 2. Eventually, Episode 2 released on April 19, 2025, which spans nearly 50 minutes, thrice the runtime of Episode 1. As of right now, Episode 3 is currently in production.
It has been repeatedly stated that while the series does share elements such as portals, drones, and the overall lore from MORØ's previous projects such as Friday Night Funkin': Indie Cross and several animations, particularly the Sans VS. Bendy series, And Nightmare Sans Vs Frisk, the aforementioned projects do not share the same canonicity as the series.Anything that doesn't have "Indie Cross series" in the title or isn't mentioned isn't canon.Furthermore, the series was planned before the mod. MORØ didn't change the name because he couldn't think of anything better.
stuff 1
Indie Cross was first conceptualized in late 2019.[8] But the series wasn't developed until on May 16, 2022, when the first ever teaser of the series was posted showing a darkened image of Shovel Knight. During mid-2022, Indie Cross was first properly revealed in a roadmap of 4 projects spanning from 2022 to 2024 by MORØ, with the series in the last slot being planned to release in 2024. A second teaser would drop on September 6, 2022 at the end of NM Bendy VS NM Sans animation, specifically an epilogue to the previous Cuphead VS Tricky. While initially planned to be a movie, MORØ eventually decided to make it a series, as he acknowledged a movie would be too short and, therefore, would be filled with terrible pacing. At the end of MORØ's 2022 animation reel, the movie officially became a series, with its first episode releasing in 2023, pushing two other projects back (notably a Friday Night Funkin' mod, later revealed to be dubbed Cruel Whispers; and the pilot of an animated series based on the Bendy franchise, which was cancelled and would be recycled into an original series).
side note

The Core and the CalamityThe Multiversal Calamity: Portals began ripping through various video game dimensions following a mysterious cosmic event. The Core / Fountain: A central nexus dimension links these realities together, acting as an infinite energy source that lets characters cross over and channel abilities from their home universes. The Factions and ConflictsThe Indie Protagonists: Displaced heroes like Shovel Knight, Cuphead, Frisk (acting on survival/genocide instincts), and Drifter are forced to team up, navigate strange new environments (like a GameMaker-engine-built City), and find a way back home. The Rogues: A faction of antagonistic entities with names modeled after game engines (such as Unithor, based on Unity). Consensus on community lore tracks their goal as "optimizing" and rewriting realms across the multiverse while manipulating the Core's energy.Charlotte: A deceptive, hostile drone who opposes the indie anomalies and attempts to use the Core's power for her own destructive ends, even finding herself cast into the Five Nights at Freddy's world
