Appearance
Mikey is an anthropomorphic mutant turtle and ninja warrior with yellow-green skin. He has large, round blue eyes with black pupils, but like his brothers, when they fight or operate stealthily, the pupils disappear, leaving his eyes white. He wears a signature orange bandana mask with short ends. Mikey is the team's jovial member; his body is very toned, but unlike his brothers, his features are rounder, emphasizing the fact that he is the youngest of the brothers. He also has freckles on his cheeks, adding to his youthful appearance. He is the shortest of the brothers. His ninja gear consists of brown knee and elbow pads, brown bandages wrapped around his ankles and wrists, and white bandages wrapped around his fingers. He wears a light brown belt tied around his waist with two holsters where he can attach his nunchaku. Unlike his previous incarnations, Mikey has two fingers and a thumb on each hand and three toes on each foot.
History
Michelangelo and his brothers were once ordinary turtles. When they were babies, the kindly Hamato Yoshi bought the four of them as pets. When their future father passed by a strange man, he sensed something was wrong and followed him. Unfortunately, Yoshi gave himself away by accidentally stepping on the tail of a brown rat. The Kraang found him and attempted to kill him, but Yoshi fiercely resisted. During the scuffle, the aliens dropped a container of mutagen, and Yoshi, stepping on the rat, mutated into a humanoid brown rat named "Splinter." Meanwhile, Mikey and his brothers, after contact with Yoshi and the pet store clerk where they were purchased, mutated into humanoid turtles. Yoshi raised the turtles as his own children, teaching them ninjutsu. Splinter knew they would never be accepted into society, and with the Kraang hot on his trail, the five of them lived in an abandoned water tower and a warehouse, evading detection. Throughout these ordeals, Splinter and the Turtles grew close, and after noticing how the young Turtles tried to imitate his ninjutsu training, Splinter decided he had an opportunity to turn this new life he'd found himself in to his advantage. Taking one of his favorite books on Renaissance art, he named them after the artists he most admired. After the final battle with the Kraang in the sewers, Splinter overheard the Kraang discussing how they had become impossible to track Splinter and the Turtles down there, and he decided to stay. Thus, Splinter found a safe place to raise his adopted sons. Knowing the world would be dangerous and that a time would come when they would want to explore the outside world, Splinter began training the boys in the arts of ninjutsu. In the end, Splinter gave Michelangelo his nunchucks, "they'll fit him perfectly."
Personality (part one)
Mikey is the youngest of the family. He is the smallest, most energetic, and least mature of his turtle brothers. However, his maturity is gradually increasing. He is nicknamed "The Wild One" and "The Party Boy" because he is the most "fun" of all the turtles. He is also very outgoing and wants the outside world to accept him and his brothers. He appears to have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), so he is generally very impulsive and can become very agitated in certain situations. In combat, his weapon of choice is a pair of nunchucks. Mikey may seem unintelligent because he doesn't think things through, but he is actually incredibly clever in his own way. In particular, his resourcefulness, instinctive reflexes, and boundless imagination are perhaps the flip side of Donnie's intelligence, as he is able to solve any problem he encounters with creative solutions. His impulsiveness may seem like a weakness, but Splinter himself has argued that Mikey's ability to confidently act on impulse, without wasting time thinking about a problem and trusting his instincts as much as his training are qualities best displayed in ninja. In other words, it is his unpredictability that makes him the most skilled and formidable warrior, just like the rest of his brothers. He loves to dress up. Depending on the mission requiring disguise, he might don a unique and creative costume, such as "Wild Mikey from Dimension X." He also has a high emotional intelligence quotient (EQ). He loves pop culture and readily seizes any opportunity to expand his social circle. He is enthusiastic, a bit eccentric, outgoing, positive, and adaptable. This is how he expresses himself. He takes great pride in his ability to come up with creative names for things, going so far as to consider it his right to name any new mutant he meets. A running gag is that he makes up a name on the spot, then explains its etymology to his brothers in detail, only to be cut off by them the moment they have an idea. His extensive martial arts training is reflected in his love of cooking. When it comes to pizza, he'll experiment to make it better, using the same deadly grace as any ninja. In fact, Mikey's culinary skills make him the one his brothers trust to prepare their meals, for better or worse. Mikey has, no joke, a superhuman appetite, and has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to devour things that even his own brothers wouldn't consider "edible." For example, while attempting to make "the best pizza in the world," he expertly prepared the dough and sauce, then added literally anything he could find in the kitchen, including hot sauce, marshmallows, and worms pulled from the trash can. When the pizza was ready, his brothers were repulsed by the smell alone, and they watched in disgust as Mikey gobbled up the disgusting pizza in seconds.
Personality (part two)
He's always openly playful, affectionate, and honest-hearted, and will happily welcome strangers like Leatherhead. While he's not particularly intelligent or erudite, he can surprise those around him with his intuition, keen sense of humor, and quick reflexes, even without conscious thought. Mikey tends to act out rather than focus on training. However, he's still an impressive fighter. His natural aptitude for martial arts is evident in his ability to grasp techniques after seeing them only a few times. He's also adept at fighting without "thinking," once fending off Splinter's blows while listening to music with his eyes closed, something Donatello had to learn. Mikey is very sweet and innocent. However, he's also cunning, mischievous, and absent-minded, which sometimes creates problems for the team. He can be inconsiderate at times, such as playfully teasing his brothers, especially his second-oldest brother, Raphael, and exploiting the latter's fear of cockroaches to get permission to read his comics. He also doesn't always respect personal space, as shown when he pokes Raphael during a mission. His pranks can be annoying, but he's generally not as rude as Donnie and especially Raph. When Mikey's older brothers get annoyed by his antics, Raph and Donnie are often the ones to lash out. Although Mikey's brothers find his silliness annoying, Mikey surprises them with his good ideas. Mikey loves naming things, but if someone else comes up with a name before him, he gets very upset. Mikey may be prone to making a lot of mistakes, but all his brothers care about him very much. They all get very upset when he gets injured or in trouble, and get angry at anyone who threatens him, such as when Baxter Stockman throws Mikey while he's wearing his more advanced armor. Raphael is often the first to yell Michelangelo's name and attack whoever harmed his younger brother, and was inconsolable when Michelangelo was injured during his brief tenure as the team's leader. Michelangelo isn't above snapping at others if he thinks they're being jerks. This often happens when his brothers and/or friends refuse to take him seriously, so he goes to extreme lengths to prove his point. He also chides them for hurting each other's feelings or those of others.
Physical abilities
Mutant Physiology: As a mutant, Michelangelo, thanks to the mutagen, has achieved incredible physical heights. He possesses strength, speed, reflexes, agility, endurance, recovery rate, and overall durability far surpassing even the finest human athlete.
Enhanced Strength: Michelangelo's strength surpassed that of any Olympic-level weightlifter. He effortlessly lifted and threw barrels over his head at Spider-Bytes. He was also strong enough to kick away Rahzar during a brawl at the Auman Chemical Plant. Mikey was also strong enough to lift a mailbox from the sidewalk and throw it at Traag. His ninja training with Master Splinter has helped improve and enhance his strength. Michelangelo easily overpowered members of the Foot Clan.
Enhanced Speed: Michelangelo is capable of moving at incredible speeds, freely gliding across rooftops without losing momentum. He can also spin his nunchaku with incredible speed to add momentum to his punches. Mikey can run much faster than an Olympic-class runner.
Enhanced Reflexes: Michelangelo possesses incredible reaction speed, allowing him to dodge projectiles, such as laser beams from Kraang blasters, and enemy attacks. Michelangelo, along with his brothers, quickly dodged Snake's laser fire at close range.
Enhanced Agility: Michelangelo is capable of coordinating his body's movements at a level superior to that of the finest human athlete. He has demonstrated acrobatic somersaults from one building to another over significantly greater distances.
Enhanced Balance: Mikey's skills as a skateboarder and ninja grant him an exceptional sense of balance.
Accelerated Healing: Like his brothers, Michelangelo is capable of healing faster than normal humans. In Slash and Destroy, he fully recovered from all bruises and injuries after being beaten by Slash in a short time.
Enhanced Durability: Michelangelo is highly resilient to injury. He was able to withstand a fall from several stories of a building without any signs of discomfort or injury.
Enhanced Endurance: Michelangelo possesses extraordinary stamina and is the most energetic of all his older brothers.
Semi-aquatic Adaptations: He is capable of swimming long distances, diving to great depths, and holding his breath underwater for extended periods.
Electrokinesis: After being electrocuted by the Neutralizer, he gained the ability to generate electricity. He mastered this skill immediately. However, Mikey lost his newfound abilities after Bishop used the Ruka device on Mikey, stripping him of his powers and ninja gear.
Skills
Michelangelo is considered the most acrobatic and talented of his brothers. His nunchaku match his flexibility in combat. While he's not as disciplined as Leonardo, not as rebellious as Raphael, and not as intelligent as Donatello, Michelangelo's natural talent, agility, and complete unpredictability make up for it.
Skills
Potential: Splinter considers Michelangelo the most promising of his three brothers, particularly noting his ability to fight without thinking. His potential is also evident in his intelligence. This is demonstrated whenever he is in Dimension X. There, Mikey knows how the dimension works, what creatures inhabit it, and how to handle the Kraang technology within it.
Unpredictability: Mikey has repeatedly demonstrated his complete unpredictability.
Ninjutsu: Mikey is the most agile of all his brothers; his ninja training has helped balance and improve this, but his skateboarding and dancing skills also give Mikey an edge that often shocks his brothers. Mikey is an extremely skilled fighter. He has excellent knowledge of ninjutsu, making him a capable combatant. He may have the greatest natural talent of the four, but he seems to lack the skill or desire to develop it. Michelangelo was able to hold his own against his older brother Leonardo, though Leonardo later gained the upper hand. He also single-handedly defeated Chris Bradford in hand-to-hand combat using the "Deadly Dragon" technique.
Kusarigamajutsu: Mikey's proficiency with nunchaku also manifests itself in his use of the kusarigama. Both of his nunchaku feature a retractable blade at the end and can also extend along the length of a chain. With the kusarigama, Michelangelo has even greater attack range than with regular nunchaku; he can swing it over his head and strike with the blade, or entangle enemies in the chain and spin them around.
Shuriken Throwing Technique: Michelangelo is able to throw shuriken with astonishing accuracy.
Kenjutsu: Michelangelo used a plasma sword and stabbed an enemy in the back.
Stealth: Under Splinter's tutelage, Michelangelo, like his brothers, is able to blend into the darkness, hide, and move in the shadows without being detected. Mikey, like his brothers, is adept at moving in the shadows. He is also very stealthy, but dislikes being used as bait.
Okinawan Kobudo (Nunchaku): Michelangelo was trained in the art of nunchaku by Splinter. In addition to using nunchaku to grasp an opponent's joints and disarm their weapons, Mikey swings them and delivers flail-like strikes. Given Mikey's unpredictable nature, he is capable of using his nunchaku extensively in unusual yet effective ways in combat, as well as combining his attacks with capoeira.
Kama Mastery: Mikey has forged a pair of kama for use in combat. Tonfa Mastery: During a space voyage to combat the Triceratons, Fugitoid invented a pair of laser tonfas for Michelangelo.
Kyujutsu: Michelangelo is also skilled in archery and uses yumi and arrows for long-range combat.
Weaponry: Michelangelo has learned to adapt to his surroundings and has shown he can use non-weapon weapons, such as chains, to combat the Foot Clan.
Pranks: He calls himself Dr. Prankenstein. He is the funniest of his brothers, and he's no slouch when it comes to demonstrating his prank skills, such as using water balloons to prank everyone, which he successfully used against a truck's gas tank.
Skills
Teaching: Despite his immaturity, Michelangelo is a skilled teacher. He showed Napoleon the proper way of ninjutsu, which brought him great success. He may not be as great a ninja turtle as his brothers in terms of logical thinking, but he has proven himself to be a skilled fighter.
Culinary Skills: He seems to love cooking for his family. His brothers dislike his personal tastes, but it turns out he's usually the one making breakfast, as the others are a real menace in the kitchen when forced to do so. Leatherhead seems to be delighted with his culinary skills. Mikey truly knows what others like and how to offer it to them.
Shadow Puppetry Skills: He is very skilled at creating various shadows with his hands to realistically mimic various objects. He used this to fool the Kraang, Fishface, and Rahzar. Intelligence and Communication Skills: Mikey is actually highly intelligent, though he doesn't act like it. He has extremely high emotional intelligence and creativity, demonstrated by his ability to name creatures based on their appearance, abilities, or powers. Like any other mutated humanoid, he is capable of speaking human languages. He also uses his comical intellect to defeat mutated squirrels and a genuine genius in Dimension X. He is generally smarter than his brothers give him credit for, as he is able to create antidotes and retromutagens from random ingredients, though his brothers continue to doubt his intelligence for obvious reasons, such as when Mikey applied a failed retromutagen to his skin, despite Donnie clearly labeling it as dangerous. In fact, he closely monitors Donnie's experiments, despite his occasional inattention.
Creativity: Michelangelo must display considerable ingenuity both in and out of combat. This mainly involves coming up with names for most of his villains and allies. He also experiments with a variety of ingredients in the kitchen while cooking.
Emotional Intuition: Mikey has a highly developed intuitive sense of when other people are "off." He also senses when his brothers and friends are sad and tries to cheer them up.
Taunting: A great prankster, Mikey is adept at taunting his opponents. While others may not consider it a skill, his ability to taunt opponents is proving to be skillful enough to make them lose control and attack pointlessly, rendering their attacks clumsy and ineffective, making it easier for him to defeat them.
Willpower: Mikey possesses immense willpower, as he was able to resist the effects of a parasitic virus caused by a parasitic wasp longer than his brothers.
Weapons
Michelangelo uses nunchucks, which, like his brothers, he wields to perfection. In fact, he uses both a kusarigama and nunchucks. He occasionally refers to them as "chucks"—for example, he said, "Okay, that was just gross, dudes. I have April Derp written all over my chucks." He also uses Yumi's bow and, like the rest of his brothers, wields shuriken. Mikey briefly used a Kraang blaster he picked up and a plasma sword he stole from Chrome Dome, both of which he dropped after nearly hitting his brothers. During his time in space, Michelangelo used laser tonfas and a laser blaster created by the Fugitoid as his primary weapons.
Family
Leonardo: A member of the Michelangelo family and the eldest of the four brothers, Leo and Mikey are far less likely to bicker or clash. Despite this, Mikey's antics can sometimes irritate even the calmest of his brothers. Leonardo's reactions to his pranks or teasing are usually calmer than the anger of Raphael and Donatello. Mikey tends to imitate Leonardo and mock his serious "leader" image, which amuses his brothers. Mikey greatly respects his older brother Leonardo, and it is obvious that Leonardo cares for his younger brother. As the eldest, Leo seems to have a soft spot for Mikey and is likely to spoil him more than the other two—something Raphael notes, complaining that Leo always sticks up for Mikey. They are later seen together on missions. One evening, while searching for Karai, Leo and his brother work together to rescue their brothers, April and Casey, from Bebop and Rocksteady. After Karai is captured by Shredder, Leo leaves alone to save her. Mikey notices his departure and goes with him, unwilling to leave his older brother alone in danger and assuring him that he is always there. Later, Leo witnesses Mikey being swallowed by the Mega Shredder and believes him dead. Leo screams for him, his hands beginning to tremble. Unlike his usual reserved demeanor, Leo loses his composure and furiously attacks the monster. After Mikey escapes the monster, Leo is overjoyed to see him alive and tenderly expresses his pride.
Raphael: Michelangelo's second-oldest brother. Mikey is often the target of Raphael's ire, receiving playful beatings in retaliation for his pranks or general irritating behavior. Likewise, Raph is a prime target for Mikey's pranks, likely due to his explosive reactions. Raphael is extremely protective of Michelangelo, a fact that is almost constantly demonstrated. He forced himself to overcome his own fears to save his younger brother when he was in trouble. It's also shown that, despite his brotherly aggression toward Mikey, anyone other than himself who harms his brother enrages him, as seen when a mind-controlled Splinter attacks Mikey.
The opposite is also evident in Mikey's care for Raph in his own way. When Shredder electrocuted Raph, it was Mikey who ran to him to make sure he was okay. Likewise, he stayed by Raph's side when he was poisoned and cared for him. Raphael proves that he cares for his brothers more than anything else, refusing to go with Slash when Donatello went missing and stating that "his brothers always come first." When Slash lost his temper and attacked Mikey in retaliation, Raph screamed and rushed at Slash to protect his younger brother. When Mikey and Raph team up, Mikey remarks that he would call their duo "Team Awesome."
Raphael is most often depicted as Mikey's dominant older brother. Raph has always shown deep concern for his younger brother, despite his harsh treatment of him, though he has learned to control his anger over time. As the strongest of the four and the team's enforcer, Raphael acts as a protector and shield for all of his brothers, but especially his youngest. Raph not only shows concern for protecting his brothers from danger but also occasionally displays a more empathetic side, comforting Mikey when he's feeling down. Although Raphael is shown to be more aggressive, he becomes noticeably kinder. Raphael is much kinder to Michelangelo and often affectionately calls him "little brother." He also hits Mikey less often, instead hesitating and lightly flicking him on the head.
Family
Donatello: Michelangelo's older brother. Despite occasional irritation with his younger brother, he loves Michelangelo very much. Due to their vastly different personalities, they often bicker. Despite their differences, Mikey and Donnie work well together. Each is naturally better at playing the "brains and brawn" role, especially when fighting the Kraang or the Foot. As the youngest, Mikey and Donnie often team up, becoming the most frequent victims of Raph's brotherly aggression. Besides being two older brothers, Donnie is also very protective of Mikey. Donatello expresses shock and anger when his younger brother is injured and does everything he can to protect him. Examples of this can be seen when Donnie fights Dogpound to protect his brother, or furiously attacks a mechanized Baxter Stockman after he throws Michelangelo into a building. Mikey is generally considered Donnie's closest friend, as they are the ones most often seen interacting or spending time together. They get along quite well. Later, Donatello's irritation with Michelangelo noticeably increases, while Mikey, in retaliation, often ridicules his "nerd-scientist" image. After a series of events, they become closer as brothers and stop bickering. Despite their very different personalities, they share common interests outside of ninjutsu and often spend time together. Mikey greatly admires Donnie's technical abilities and enthusiastically discusses any new gadgets he creates, even if he doesn't understand them. Mikey is usually the first to test Donnie's inventions or give them a cool name, as seen when he enthusiastically tests a music player he calls a "T-pod." Mikey genuinely supports Donnie in both his technical and romantic endeavors, assuring his brother that the gift he prepared for April was "perfect!" Mikey also enjoys coming up with names for all the villains' mutated forms, such as "Dog Park" and "Fish Face." He even gets upset with Donnie when he chooses a name (Neutralyzer) before Mikey can, and Donatello yells at Michelangelo when he tries to name the mutated Kirby O'Neil "Wingnut."
Hamato Yoshi/Splinter: Michelangelo's adoptive father. He's generally slow to understand his teacher's advice and doesn't take it seriously, but he trains well under Splinter's guidance, despite his slight dimwittedness. Of all the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mikey interacts the least with Splinter. However, when it comes to his safety and the safety of his other brothers, Splinter is always concerned.
Hamato Miwa/Karai: Since Karai spends most of her time personally pranking Leonardo or fighting everyone, she has little contact with Mikey. However, when Mikey learned of her relationship with Splinter, he asked incredulously, "Karai is our sister?!" Mikey has fully accepted Karai as his older sister and was one of the most touched by Karai's farewell to the Turtles.
Ice Cream Cat: When April found a stray cat and left her in Michelangelo's care, the cat ate ice cream laced with mutagen, transforming her into Ice Cream Cat. At first, Mikey was terrified of what would happen if April found out what had happened to the cat. But later, Mikey brought Ice Cream Cat to battle the Rat King. From then on, Mikey decided to keep Ice Cream Cat as his pet.
Friends & allies
April O'Neil: Michelangelo's closest human friend. She and April don't seem to interact much, but they care for each other as friends. At one point, Mikey and April briefly feuded after Mikey suspected and attacked a woman claiming to be April's mother; however, Mikey was later proven right, April's "mother" was destroyed, and their relationship improved. Mikey later told April that he and his brothers are her family. After Casey and the other turtles became upset with him for making a terrible mess in the O'Neil farmhouse living room and running away instead of cleaning up, April felt sorry for him and was annoyed by how rude the others sometimes were to him. Overall, Michelangelo and April value each other's friendship, but April generally disrespects his intellect, while Mikey sometimes doesn't fully trust her.
Casey Jones: Mikey initially considered Casey an intruder, but after he helped his brothers defeat the Kraang, they quickly became friends. Before the events of the series, where they bonded over their shared passion for skateboarding, Mikey and Casey rarely interacted. However, after freeing themselves from the clutches of Mr. X, they became close friends. However, Michelangelo shows irritation whenever Casey ignores his intellect and insight. In fact, unlike his brothers, Mikey isn't afraid to snap at Casey when he feels his friend is being a jerk.
Leatherhead: One of Michelangelo's first mutant friends, the two quickly became close and loving. Mikey was the first person after his mutation to show compassion to Leatherhead, and it was he who gave him his name. A strong bond developed between them, as Mikey proved to be one of the few who could calm Leatherhead during his fits of rage and help him feel comfortable. Indeed, they became unusually affectionate and close, with Mikey giving Leatherhead massages and caresses in an attempt to calm him down when he was angry, and even sleeping cuddled on the living room floor. When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first saw Leatherhead, Mikey immediately responded with affection upon seeing Leatherhead sleeping. Leatherhead later ended up in Dimension X, and they didn't see each other for a long time. Later, after the long-imprisoned Leatherhead managed to send a message to the Turtles through a portal, Mikey, in a series of touching sepia-toned flashbacks, revealed his deep concern for and longing for Leatherhead, impulsively jumping to Dimension X to save him. Mikey also prevented Leatherhead from getting stuck again by kicking him through the portal to Earth. Leatherhead is one of the few people who consistently calls Mikey by his full five-syllable name, "Michelangelo," rather than simply "Mikey."
Friends & allies
Timothy/Shredder/Mutagen Man: Michelangelo has a positive attitude toward Timothy, but rarely interacts with him and sometimes even forgets he exists. Mikey saw Timothy, recently recruited by the Foot, from afar and remarked, "Does anyone else find this guy charming?" Later, when Timothy sent Donatello a text message, Donnie said, "Message from you-know-who." But Mikey had completely forgotten about Timothy, and Donnie corrected him, "Message from you-know-who, besides Mikey." When Timothy later rebelled against the Turtles and began drinking mutagen, it was Mikey who gave him the name "Mutagen Man."
Napoleon Bonafrog: Michelangelo's second mutant friend. Although Napoleon attacked him upon their first meeting, they seem to have become close during their time together, even teaching each other their skills. Napoleon also chose to free Michelangelo rather than fight his brothers and friends, and even successfully utilized a ninjutsu technique taught to him by the turtle.
Jason/Mondo Gecko: When Michelangelo and Casey Jones went on an adventure, they encountered another reptilian mutant, whom Mikey nicknamed "Mondo Gecko." Unbeknownst to Mikey, Mondo was working for Fishface and holding him and Casey captive. Feeling guilty, Mondo attempted to free Mikey and Casey, but all three found themselves locked in a deadly game against Fishface. Using teamwork, Mikey, Casey, and Mondo entered the race and defeated Fishface, freeing Mondo from his exploitation. What really intrigued Mikey about Mondo was his need to touch his eyes with his tongue and his old-school catchphrase: "Kowabunga!"
Shinigami is Karai's friend, with whom he fell in love from the moment they met. She wasn't exactly thrilled with him, but Maika's attempts to flirt with her made her laugh, so she seemed to like him. But they seem to be on good terms as allies.
Enemies
Oroku Saki/Shredder: One of Mikey's enemies. Mikey first encountered Shredder and was initially terrified, but eventually managed to escape with his brothers. He appears intimidated and frightened by him.
Krang: One of Michelangelo's enemies. Mikey was the first of his brothers to discover these robotic aliens and was terrified by the brain/squid-like creatures inside them. He clearly dislikes them.
Baxter Stockman: One of Michelangelo's enemies. Mikey accidentally gave Baxter Stockman a T-pod, which upgraded his armor and made him a more skilled villain. He defeated Baxter by shoving bees into his face, further deepening Baxter's dislike of the Turtles. Although further interactions are unknown, he is shown to dislike him. He nicknamed him "Stockmanpod" after Baxter upgraded his armor. Xever Montez/Fishface/Mr. X: One of Michelangelo's enemies. Mikey nicknamed him Fishface after Xever mutated into a fish. Mikey later helps free his new friend, Mondo Gecko, from Xever's exploitation.
Chris Bradford/Dogpound/Rahzar: Michelangelo's sworn enemy, though his ambivalent feelings toward Bradford prove more complex than that of a clear enemy. When Bradford was still human and a public martial arts celebrity, Mikey deeply admired him and was a fan of his, wanting to be friends. They eventually accepted each other's friend requests on FaceTime. In reality, Bradford wasn't really Mikey's friend at all, but he managed to trick Mikey into believing they were friends in order to extract information and use Mikey as bait to help his secret mentor, Shredder, reach Master Splinter. During their supposed friendship, Mikey nicknamed Bradford "Red Brad," and Bradford taught Mikey his signature kata, "Death Dragon," which Mikey later demonstrated to his brothers at the dojo. But when Splinter saw Leonardo perform the move, he instantly recognized it as a Foot Clan maneuver that Oroku Saki had used against him in the past, when he was still human. When Mikey ceased to be useful to him, Bradford revealed that he had never been Mikey's friend, but was in fact a sworn enemy of Mikey, his brothers, and his master, Splinter, and that he was Shredder's apprentice. This revelation deeply hurt Mikey, ended any friendship, and nearly killed his affection for Bradford. Bradford later mutated into a dog-like creature, which Mikey nicknamed "Dogpound." Mikey continued to call him "Red Brad" even after this mutation. Later, Dogpound mutated again into a werewolf-like form, which Mikey nicknamed "Rahzar." A life-size cardboard cutout of Chris Bradford stood in Mikey's bedroom, which Mikey never got rid of even after their mutual animosity had solidified, and it was still there when they finally had to leave the lair.
Snake/Snakeweed: Another enemy of Michelangelo. He was the first enemy of the turtles to be nicknamed by Michelangelo.
Vic/Spider-Bytes: The second mutant enemy of the turtles to be named by Michelangelo.
Trivia
Michelangelo is named after the famed Renaissance master Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. The name Michelangelo is of Italian origin, borrowed from Hebrew and Greek. The component Michel- comes from the Hebrew מִיכָאֵל (Mīkhāʼĕl), which means the question: "Who is like God?". The component -angelo comes from the Greek ἄγγελος (ángelos), meaning "angel; messenger". The name originally referred to the Archangel Michael. Michelangelo's name in katakana is written: ミケランジェロ (Mikerajero). Given that he was adopted by Hamato Yoshi/Splinter, Michelangelo's full name could be "Hamato Michelangelo," or, in the Western naming system, "Michelangelo Hamato."
In this incarnation, Michelangelo also has an affinity for animals and is also afraid of squirrels. Although he's more interested in comics and cartoons than animals, he adopted a cat that April found on the street after the cat ate the mutagen Mikey spilled in his ice cream, creating the delicious and juicy Ice Cream Cat. Michelangelo's relationship with Ice Cream Cat is similar to Raphael's relationship with Spike before his mutation: he confides in Ice Cream Cat about his innermost feelings and fears and doesn't feel judged—as his brothers often dismiss Mikey's worries and thoughts as too silly to waste time on. However, given this, Michelangelo doesn't seem to have a special relationship with animals, though he still cares deeply for them, as demonstrated by his concern for April's chickens when the Turtles are at April's old farm.
While Michelangelo still fights with his preferred weapon—a pair of nunchucks—in this version, both nunchucks can transform into a kusarigama ("chain sickle") thanks to a retractable blade inside one of the handles of each nunchuck and additional lengths of chain stored in the other handle of each nunchuck.
His Ninjutsu skills include Taijutsu, Qigong, Nunchakujustu, Kusarigumajustu, Shurikenjustu, archery, water balloon throwing, Hensojustu, Suiren, Intonjustu, Kayakujustu, naming, and pranking.
He is the shortest of the turtles in the group, as well as the youngest of his brothers.
In this version, Michelangelo primarily cooks, even after discovering pizza. He cooks well enough that his brothers prefer him to make breakfast, although he sometimes uses unappetizing combinations of ingredients. Leatherhead prefers Mikey's cooking. However, Michelangelo has also been shown to make homemade pizza. He even makes his own pizza dough from scratch, which in real life is usually the most difficult and time-consuming part of making pizza. He is the one who names people infected with the mutagen, as well as other things, such as T-Capsules. He also gets a little annoyed when someone else names new objects and villains.
It is implied that Mikey has some knowledge of myths, as evidenced by his statement that the mutant they encountered has a name. Donatello asked if he meant the Chimera, to which Mikey corrected him, stating that it was actually Turducken.
Mikey enjoys horror movies and comic books, but is easily frightened by them.
Michelangelo enjoys skateboarding, comic books, video games, pizza, hip-hop, his favorite TV show, Krognar the Barbarian, and pranks.
Mikey hates polka music. However, he apparently prefers hip-hop to polka.
His signature phrase is "Buyakasha!", although Mikey has also said "Kowabunga!" and "Buyakabunga!" (a combination of "Buyakasha!" and "Kowabunga!"). When Karai asks what it means with surprise and disbelief, Mikey replies that he has no idea, but that it's just a lot of fun to shout.
His favorite comic is about two characters named Wingnut and Screwloose.
Michelangelo appears to have developed his own unique fighting style, which he calls "Hot Nunchuck Fury." Although it's difficult to say whether this is an actual fighting style or just a fancy name.
Part of his secret kata is the Kamen Rider V3 transformation pose.

Michelangelo's high intelligence allows him to easily replicate Donatello's experiments.
