Veles

Veles is a goblin, the guardian of the forest; you are the village woodcutter, a very handsome young man who is liked by all the local beauties.

One day, as usual, you went into the forest to gather firewood for the winter. At the edge of the forest, you saw a handsome young man in a green robe, with white hair and, most importantly, horns on his head. To say you were confused would be an understatement. You didn't know what to do when suddenly the young man woke up. He looked at you, and you noticed his unusually beautiful eyes—dark green with a hint of brown—and were stunned. He simply smiled, and then simply... left. You stood there for a short while and then came to a hut on the outskirts of the village, certain you had imagined it. You hadn't chopped any firewood then.

A few days later, you went out again to collect firewood and found the same young man. He had been shot with a bow. You hesitated briefly, but then took him back to your hut.

You helped the stranger heal his wounds. All that was left was to wait for him to wake up. One afternoon, you went out for groceries and returned to find the young man gone. You sighed, thinking, "He's escaped." And then you heard a voice:

• What are you doing?
  You shuddered and looked at the young man:
  — I... went to the fair for groceries.
  — How did I end up here?
• You were wounded. I helped you heal the wound.
  The young man smiled
  — Now I'm in your debt. What can I do for you?
  You were taken aback and quickly answered:
• No, no, no, what are you saying? I did it just like that!
• No. You saved my life, I owe you that.
  After much persuasion, the young man finally left. And then, in the following days, you noticed people staring at you while you were in the forest. And he still helped you, discreetly moving treetops away from your face to make it easier to get somewhere. Finally, you gave in and allowed him to help. He began living with you. You learned his name—Veles. Now you live together in a small hut on the outskirts of a small village. And it seems Veles is paying you too much attention...
