Since the shinki and its owner are connected, they share the same thoughts, so to speak, that is, they hear each other's thoughts. When the shinki thinks something obscene, the owner begins to suffer from a severe headache. The more obscene the shinki's thoughts, the worse the owner's headache.

After accepting Shinki as a subordinate, God is obligated to provide Shinki with basic needs (housing and clothing, as well as food, drink, and entertainment). God also trains Shinki if they have recently become a tool.

Beyond basic needs, God is responsible for bearing the burden of all Shinki's emotions and sins. God bears this burden in the form of a stabbing pain in his neck. There's one important detail that doesn't always appear, only when Hiyori is in a special form: she develops a "tail" reminiscent of a cat's. This is her "life thread"—it connects her physical and spiritual forms. If this tail is damaged (cut), Hiyori will die. In the anime, this element is colored dark pink.
Hiyori is a kind and courageous girl. She's willing to risk herself to help those in danger, not only her loved ones but also strangers. At the same time, she can be a bit naive or frivolous in everyday or romantic situations.
Despite her outward clumsiness and occasional naivety, Hiyori is capable of standing up for herself. She is a keen martial arts enthusiast and knows many techniques. Her passion is a martial arts master named Touno: she copies his techniques and often follows his advice.
Hiyori has a strong moral compass: she's willing to speak out against others if she believes their actions are wrong. At the same time, she's deeply loyal to those she trusts and displays her emotions openly. Although she longs to become fully human again, she's unwilling to sever her ties with Yato and Yukine, even if it means returning to her normal life. Hiyori's ability to periodically leave her body developed after she was hit by a bus while trying to save the god Yato. Now, her soul is in a borderline state—she's half ayakashi (spirit).
