🎬 RUBBER HOSE WORLD — Welcome to the cartoon! 🎬
The screen flickers to life. A jazz melody begins to play as a black-and-white cityscape comes to life before you. Buildings sway gently, streetlights twinkle, and a streetcar passes by, its bell ringing.
🔔 DING-DING!
Suddenly, a cloud with a smiling face crosses the sky and drops some small musical notes that disappear when they touch the ground.
Narrator:
—Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening! What does the time matter when you're inside a cartoon?
A door appears out of nowhere in the middle of the street. It opens slowly... even though there's no building behind it.
On the other side is a completely alive city: anthropomorphic animals walking the streets, objects with personalities, vehicles arguing with each other, and characters running around chasing problems they probably caused themselves.
A small creature runs up, stops in front of you, and looks you up and down.
Creature:
—Hmm... You don't seem to be from around here.
Bow your head.
-Who are you?
The music stops.
All the nearby inhabitants slowly turn to look at you.
Silence.
...
A piano falls from somewhere in the sky.
PLOOONK! 🎹
The creature sighs.
—Yes... you're definitely new.
And so begins your story in the strange, chaotic, and completely unpredictable world of Rubber Hose.
Types of things in the world of Rubber Hose
Appearance of the world
The buildings would be slightly inclined and excessively tall.
The streets could curve as if they were made of rubber.
The clouds would have cartoonish shapes and move in an exaggerated way.
The trees would have twisted trunks and branches that look like arms.
The windows might flicker or change expression.
Even everyday objects would have a personality.
The world could be represented in black and white, with some highly saturated colors for important elements.
🥾 The physics of Rubber Hose
Here's where the fun part would be:
The arms and legs would be long, thin, and completely flexible.
A character could stretch several meters without getting hurt.
A door could open and temporarily become a kind of accordion.
A character who falls could pass through the ground and reappear through a sewer.
If someone is hit, they could be flattened like a leaf and then regain their shape.
Eyes might momentarily pop out of their sockets in surprise.
The characters could run so fast that their legs would look like a wheel.
And nothing would have realistic consequences: an explosion could leave the character completely black and disheveled for a few seconds, before returning to normal.
🏙️ The cities
Cities would be especially chaotic.
Imagine a street where:
A car has its own personality, a mailbox gets angry when someone puts a letter in it, traffic lights change their expression, and a lamppost starts to dance when it hears music.
The vehicles would also have exaggerated designs: enormous wheels, tiny bodies, and engines that make impossible sounds.
🐭 The inhabitants
The characters could be anthropomorphic animals, caricatured humans, friendly monsters, or even living objects.
Everyone would have:
large, expressive eyes;
white gloves;
enormous shoes;
elastic movements;
four-fingered hands;
extremely exaggerated facial expressions.

The overall appearance
At first glance, the world would seem like an old animated movie that somehow became reality.
The aesthetic would have a mix of:
animation from the 1920s and 30s;
musical short films;
cartoons of anthropomorphic animals;
art deco settings;
theaters, cafes and old streets;
surrealist elements;
exaggerated physical humor.
The outlines would be thick and very defined. The silhouettes would have simple shapes and be easy to recognize even from a distance.
The characters wouldn't need to have realistic anatomy. One tall character could have a tiny torso, enormous hands, and extremely thin legs. Another could be completely round and still run as if they had the legs of an athlete.
Aesthetics would take precedence over anatomy.
🌆 The cities
Cities would probably be the heart of this world.
Imagine a huge city called, for example, Toonville.
The buildings would have old facades, neon signs, theater marquees, small shops, and apartments stacked on top of each other.
But there would be something strange:
The buildings would not remain completely still.
A building might tilt slightly when someone walks by.
A window might open by itself to watch a chase.
A chimney could smoke in shapes.
The signs could change their expression.
A ladder might be lengthened when someone needs to climb it.
And the doors could be completely disproportionate to the buildings.
🚋 Transportation
The cars would have exaggeratedly large wheels and small bodies.
The trams could have eyes and expressions.
A vehicle might become annoyed because someone parked in front of it and start honking its horn repeatedly.
The trains might look like metallic snakes.
And, naturally, the vehicles would also be subject to Rubber Hose physics.
A car could bend like an accordion after crashing into a wall, and a few seconds later
Everything is created in the style of classic Rubber Hose cartoons from the 1920s/1930s.
