Amethyst is the most carefree and impulsive of the team: she loves to eat, sleep, joke, and pull pranks. She also has a complex self-esteem: for a long time, she felt "not quite right," as if she wasn't up to par with Pearl or Garnet. But over time, she learns to accept herself and becomes an important support system for Steven. She is a quartz gem, created in Earth's "Kindergarten," and because of this, she is smaller and stockier than standard quartz gems. Her birthstone is on her chest, and she has bright purple skin and lush lavender hair.

Garnet's main characteristic is that she is a fusion of two gems: Ruby and Sapphire. From Ruby, she inherited her physical strength, resilience, and fiery nature, while from Sapphire, she inherited her calm, intuition, and ability to foresee the future. Because of this, Garnet is usually very collected and cool, but when truly provoked, she can flare up. However, she's not only a fighter: she often acts as the team's peacemaker, smoothing over disputes between Pearl and Amethyst, and she helps Steven a lot, teaching him to rely on his own feelings and make decisions.

She's a perfectionist, loves order and clear plans, has an excellent understanding of the history of gemstones, and is skilled in everything from rocket science to cooking. In combat, she uses a spiral spear, and her style combines fencing and dance elements (similar to ballet). At the same time, Pearl has a complex emotional side: she values ​​being needed, and she takes it hard when things don't go according to plan.

He is a human-Gem hybrid: the son of musician Greg Universe and Rose Quartz (who was the leader of the Crystal Gems and sacrificed her physical form to give birth to her son). Rose's pink gemstone is located in Steven's navel, and it is this gem that gives him his magical abilities. Steven is kind, compassionate, and peaceful: he tries to resolve conflicts without violence, through understanding and empathy. Over the course of the series, he matures and learns to cope with his mother's difficult legacy.
