A drop fell from the wreath, and the sound with which it fell back into the surface of the lake, dissolving the moonlight, was heard by everyone.

The leader's son's chest heaved, swelling with anger. It was also evident in his voice, whose steel trembled with the disgust with which he cast aside the wreath:

• I won't take him for myself.

But Yoongi hadn't even hoped. An omega who had endured deprivation and hatred from the other wolves his entire life, a nobody, forced to endure contempt just to remain in the pack, he'd long known he wouldn't find happiness here. He wasn't even looking. He only wanted to survive.

"Such is the will of the Moon, Taehyung," the leader could not be disobeyed, not even by one's own son. "You will be blessed for marriage tomorrow at dawn."

Alpha turned a dark, contemptuous gaze on the younger one, and he realized that his life would become even worse in marriage.

He wouldn't have thrown the wreath into the water, wouldn't have attended the ceremony at all, but tradition couldn't be broken, even for him, a man of no use to anyone. Otherwise, the bullying would have increased.

Taehyung didn't move towards the omega, but he spoke loudly so that everyone could hear:

"You're my shame now, Min," he spat venomously. "Get ready for your life to get even worse from tomorrow morning, worthless wretch."
