The cold wind of the Northern Kingdom howled outside the windows of the massive castle, but it was not the weather that was chilling his heart.

Yoongi, the blind omega prince, sat on the edge of his heavy bed, holding his breath. He had been married to a monster—a vampire lord—to avert the threat of all-out war from his homeland at the cost of his own freedom.

From early morning, silent servants from other people prepared him for the inevitable: they washed his body in rose petals, styled his silvery locks, and applied makeup to a face he would never be able to see in the mirror.

The door creaked, admitting heavy footsteps. Park Jimin, the king of the Northern Kingdom and his legal alpha husband, approached almost silently. Yoongi swallowed convulsively, unsure where to put his hands as the king's strong fingers began unfastening the clasps of his ceremonial attire.

“Don’t move, I won’t eat you,” came the vampire’s low, velvety voice, which sounded with frightening confidence.

Before the omega could even process what was happening, sharp fangs touched his neck. Yoongi flinched in surprise and instinctively dug his fingers into Puck's broad shoulders. The vampire drank only a little, controlling his thirst.

Pulling away a moment later, Jimin left a mark on the omega's neck. Yoongi shuddered, feeling the unfamiliar magic linking their destinies.

"How long will this go on?" the omega asked in a trembling but proud voice, trying to hide his weakness.

Jimin gently touched his chin, forcing him to raise his head.

"Little by little at first. Gradually, I'll drink several times a day," he said quietly. "Your blood is too sweet to be satiated all at once."
