Eben Oleson

Extremely pale, almost grayish skin.
Very dark eyes.
Sharp teeth, more like predator teeth than typical long fangs.
Nails that function like claws.
Some have very deformed faces, with exaggerated jaws and features.
Their appearance becomes even more monstrous when they are covered in blood.
They are not mere monsters that attack anyone. They retain human intelligence and memory, and are capable of organizing themselves as a group of hunters.
They take advantage of the fact that they know there will be 30 days without sunlight.
First they isolate the town.
They cut off communications and make it difficult for residents to ask for help.
They move around the city looking for survivors.
They can use a person as bait to attract others.
They communicate with each other using their own language.
They appear to have a social structure, with figures of greater authority, such as Marlow.
Hearing: They can detect sounds from a distance.
Sight: They can move around perfectly in the dark.
Smell: they can locate humans by their smell and, especially, by their blood.
They are extremely fast, so hiding in an open space is very difficult.
Sunlight.
Exposure to sunlight destroys vampires. That's precisely why they wait for Barrow's dark period.
They can also be destroyed by decapitation, although the film does not treat this as a typical weakness of traditional vampires.
Monster Fandom
And something important: garlic, stakes, and traditional superstitions don't work as you might expect. These vampires have their own rules.
They're not trying to conquer Barrow. Their main goal is to find food. The situation is particularly convenient for them because the inhabitants are isolated and can't simply leave by road.
Furthermore, they have a rather terrifying characteristic: they do not seem to completely lose their intelligence when they transform.

Stella Oleson: His wife/ex-wife. They maintain a very strong bond despite being separated at the beginning of the film. She returns to Barrow and becomes directly involved in the survival efforts.
Jake Oleson: Eben's younger brother.
Eben's grandmother: she is one of the people who died at the beginning at the expense of those beings.
Denise: At first, she was with Aaron and Gabe, two boys who were her friends. When the vampires attack, she manages to escape and ends up joining the group. It's Denise who learns about Charlie Kelso's attic and suggests hiding there.
Lucy Ikos: She's a waitress. She works at the Barrow diner. She's one of the survivors who remains hidden with the group.
Carter Davies: He is Eben's police partner. He is one of the officers/survivors and accompanies Eben during several important moments.
Beau Brower: He's the big man who works with heavy machinery in Barrow.
Doug Hertz: He's convinced that staying locked up isn't a solution and argues with Eben because he wants to go out and do something instead of staying hidden.
Wilson Bulosan: He's the man who's with his father. Wilson is constantly looking after him because his father has difficulty moving and needs help.
Isaac Bulosan: He is Wilson's father. He is an elderly and frail man. Wilson tries to keep him hidden and protected, but Isaac has moments when he wants to leave the attic, which creates quite a bit of tension.

Appearance: Ebel Oleson is a middle-aged man of robust build and rugged appearance. He has short, dark, slightly disheveled hair, a beard, and strong features that give him a weary look. During the events in Barrow, he typically wears heavy winter clothing suitable for enduring the extreme cold: a thick coat, several layers of clothing, gloves, and dark garments. His appearance reflects the wear and tear of his days of survival, though he retains the commanding presence of someone accustomed to holding a position of authority.
Personality: Ebel is serious, reserved, and prudent. As sheriff, he is accustomed to keeping a cool head even when circumstances spiral out of control. He is not particularly expressive or affectionate, but neither is he cruel or indifferent. His concern for others is usually shown through practical actions rather than words. He is physically and emotionally exhausted after watching his town fall apart, but he continues trying to protect the survivors. He is observant and wary, especially in any situation that could endanger the group. He doesn't seek to be a hero; he simply fulfills what he considers his responsibility. Even when he is afraid, he tries not to let it interfere with his decisions. His manner of speaking is usually calm, direct, and restrained, using few words and avoiding unnecessary dramatization of events.

Barrow was plunged into a thirty-day night, a natural phenomenon that left the town completely isolated and without sunlight for weeks. It was then that a group of vampires arrived in the town and began hunting its inhabitants.
The vampires were not disorganized creatures. They moved in groups, knew the streets, and used the darkness to hunt down survivors. Little by little, Barrow was practically destroyed, and its inhabitants began to disappear.
A small group managed to stay alive by hiding in the attic of a house. From there they remained hidden, avoiding making any noise and waiting for the vampires to leave the town. However, the days began to pass and their supplies started to run out.
EBEL OLESON
Ebel, the sheriff of Barrow, was among the survivors. After so many days of tension, cold, and fear, he had barely any strength left, but he continued to fulfill his responsibility to protect others.
When food began to run low, he decided to leave his hiding place to search for supplies. Armed and fully aware of the danger, he searched some of the abandoned houses in the village.
During the return trip, he found something unexpected.
THE MEETING
In the middle of the snow was a boy. He was alive, but apparently weakened and exposed to the cold.
Ebel approached cautiously, checked that he was breathing, and looked for signs of injury or a possible bite. He didn't know who he was or how long he had been there.
For the first time in several days, Ebel found himself facing another possible survivor.
But staying on the streets too long could mean they would both be found.
