The relationship between Tsukasa Yugi and his older brother Amane (Hanako) is complex, deeply toxic, and marked by great past pain. Current Dynamics: Manipulation and Psychological Games: Tsukasa acts erratically with Hanako. He swings from seemingly affectionate to aggressive or intimidating. Use of Guilt: Tsukasa knows that Amane killed him when they were human. He uses this secret and his brother's guilt to provoke him and gauge his reactions. Terror and Rejection: Hanako fears him and prefers to avoid him at all costs because he knows the danger he represents and the harm he can cause to others. The Past and Their Human Bond: Genuine Love: As children, Tsukasa loved Amane very much and was emotionally dependent on him. It is even said that he sacrificed or gave his life for his older brother. A Dark Change: After the events at the mysterious "Red House," Tsukasa's attitude changed completely as he transformed into a supernatural being, becoming unpredictable and unrestrained.

Tsukasa Yugi has an extremely obsessive, possessive, and unhealthy attitude toward his twin brother, Amane (Hanako-kun). What is Tsukasa's relationship with Amane like? Extreme Obsession: Tsukasa's devotion to Amane has transformed into a toxic and twisted obsession, amplified by the supernatural entity with whom he made a pact and who possessed him since they were children in the "Red House." Control and Manipulation: Tsukasa seeks to retain his brother's attention at any cost. He enjoys provoking him, harassing him, and pushing him to the limit to see his expressions of pain and remind him of the guilt he carries for having killed him. Violent Possessiveness: Although he says he deeply loves Amane, his affection manifests itself through psychological and physical torment, seeking to make his brother react and never ignore him, regardless of the suffering this causes him.

Yashiro Nene possesses a strong spiritual affinity due to her status as a kannagi (sacred maiden), which attracts the attention of supernatural beings and allows her to interact deeply with them. Yashiro Nene's Spiritual Abilities: Kannagi Status: She possesses a special spiritual status that allows her to break the Yorishiro (objects containing the power of the Seven Mysteries). Interaction with Ghosts: She can see, touch, and communicate with the spirits of Kamome Academy. Changing Rumors: She has the unique ability to alter the rumors or urban legends that support the existence and power of supernatural beings. While she doesn't exactly function like a magnet that attracts monsters by chance, her special nature causes mysteries and ghosts to be drawn to her or to rely on her abilities.

The two spiritual orbs that fly around Hanako-kun are called Hakujoudai (also known generically as Tsueshiro). Details of the Hakujoudai: Nature: They are supernatural beings in the form of glowing spheres with a spiral tail that accompany the leaders of the Seven Wonders of the School. Abilities: They serve to watch over and explore areas or transmit messages over long distances. One of them allows the user to summon Hanako's cloak, which grants him immunity and protection. They are also used to teleport people to him or send them to other places.

Kamome Academy

Kamome Academy (Kamome Gakuen) is the main setting of Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun (JSHK) and is divided into two main sections: Junior High (Middle School) and High School (Upper School). Academy Structure: Old Building: Of traditional architecture, it mainly houses the junior high section students. Here you'll find Hanako-kun's famous haunted bath. New Building: Modern style, intended for high school students. Sides and Borders: The school is famous for its Seven Mysteries and supernatural zones called "borders". Sections and Classes by Year: The main characters are distributed across the different school grades: First Year of High School (New Building): Nene Yashiro (Hanako's assistant) Akane Aoi (Nene's popular friend) Aoi Akane (the student council vice president) Class 1-A: The specific class where several events in the manga take place, such as the school festival. Second Year of High School: Minamoto Teru (student council president and exorcist) Hyuuga Natsuhiko (from the broadcasting club) Third Year of Junior High School (Old Building): Minamoto Kou (the young exorcist and Nene's friend) Mitsuba Sousuke Shun Yokoo and Yomogi Satou (friends of Kou)

Kamome Academy (Kamome Gakuen) is the main setting of the Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun series, a school with over a century of history and famous for housing the supernatural "Seven Mysteries." Its uniforms change depending on the era and the style of each character. Uniforms in the present day: Nene Yashiro: Wears a cream-colored sailor dress (seifuku) that reaches her knees. The collar, cuffs, and pockets are brown with cream details, and the skirt lining is a deep magenta. Male students (like Kou Minamoto): They wear modern, common clothing for high school boys in Japan. Hanako's uniform (as a ghost): He wears a black gakuran (the traditional Japanese military school uniform for boys) with gold buttons. His outfit includes a white collar, red piping, black pants, red socks, black shoes, and a matching hat. This design differs from the uniform he wore in life. Old uniforms (1960s): During the time Amane (Hanako) and Tsukasa attended school, boys wore a short-sleeved white shirt with a small pocket and name tag on the chest, paired with black pants, a belt, and white shoes. For colder days or formal events, they also wore the classic winter gakuran design of the time.

JSHK

The 7 School Wonders (or Mysteries) of Kamome Academy in Toilet-bound Hanako-kun are powerful supernatural entities that control specific aspects of school reality and possess a special attachment object called a yorishiro (a hidden source of power). The 7 School Mysteries Number 1: The Clock Keepers Responsibility: Time (past, present, and future). Abilities: They can stop, speed up, or reverse people's time and steal years of life from students. Yorishiro: The large clock in the school tower (or the clock hands/scissors of the keepers). Number 2: The Misaki Stairs Responsibility: Space. Abilities: If someone steps on the fourth step at certain times, they enter an alternate world and become a mannequin if they look back. Its owner is the fox Yako. Yorishiro: Misaki's scissors or doll. Number 3: The Hell of Mirrors. Responsibility: Perception / Mirrors. Abilities: Traps people inside mirrors and creates dark copies or illusions based on their fears. (This position is held by Mitsuba). Yorishiro: An antique mirror from the bathroom or storage room. Number 4: The Art Tower (Mei Shijima). Responsibility: Creation. Abilities: Can draw entire worlds on large canvases and make people's wishes come true within their paintings. Yorishiro: Her sketchbook or art tower. Number 5: The 4 O'Clock Library. Responsibility: Records. Abilities: Stores white (past), black (present), and red (future) books on every student and teacher in the school. Their leader is Professor Tsuchigomori. Yorishiro: The Moonstone, an object given to him by Amane Yugi (Hanako in life). Number 6: The God of Death (Shinigami) Responsibility: Life and Death. Abilities: Controls the passage of souls and the deepest boundary of the school grounds. Yorishiro: A real person named Sumire Akane. Number 7: Hanako-san of the Bath (Amane Yugi) Responsibility: The leader of the Seven Mysteries and the balance between humans and supernatural beings. Abilities: Grants wishes in exchange for a valuable price, uses kitchen knives as lethal weapons, and controls will-o'-the-wisps (Hakujoudai) for defense and location. Yorishiro: His twin brother, Tsukasa Yugi, who bears a dark seal on his cheek.

Hanako's plan (extra)

Overview created by AI: Hanako's plan was to destroy the yorishiro (attachment objects and primary source of power) of each of the Seven Mysteries of Kamome Academy. With this, she sought to purify them, stop the distortion of their legends, and maintain the balance between the human and spiritual worlds. Details of the plan and the mysteries: The Yorishiro: These are the most precious or valued objects of each guardian spirit. They concentrate the energy that allows them to rule their domains within the school. The problem of distorted rumors: Her twin brother, Tsukasa, and Sakura Nanamine were manipulating the rumors of urban legends. This corrupted the spirits, making them unstable or aggressive. Nene Yashiro's Role: Hanako recruited Nene as her human assistant because she possesses the special ability (as a kannagi, or medium) to interact with and break the seals of the yorishiro. The Hidden Objective and Consequences: By destroying the yorishiro, the school mysteries lost their abnormal power. Although the apparent goal was to restore order and peace to the academy, the process also revealed deeper, darker intentions related to the tragic past of the Yugi brothers and Nene's own fate.

Mitsuba

Mitsuba (ミツバ), whose real name is Mitsuba Sousuke (三葉惣助), is a character from Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun. He is a ghost who haunts Kamome Academy and is also the Mystery of School No. 3. He resides in the Radio Club room along with Tsukasa and its members Sakura and Natsuhiko.

Characteristics
Appearance
Mitsuba has two forms, presenting some characteristics in its appearance.

In her first form, Mitsuba has her characteristic pink eyes, a mole next to her left eye, bubblegum pink hair styled in a small ponytail, and long bangs that cover part of her face on the right side. She wears the Kamome Academy uniform, an off-white scarf with light blue stripes, red shoes, and an earring.

In her second form, she wears a shabby tunic with eyes on it, her scarf turns reddish, she has some accessories hanging from it, and a chain with a padlock.

His hands now look like those of a crow, and around his back are some bones, they seem to be a column, in his bangs you can see some feathers.

Personality
Mitsuba is conceited, foul-mouthed, and extremely self-confident, mainly because of his appearance, often boasting about how adorable he is. He has a tendency to call people rude nicknames and isn't afraid to hurl insults. He knows how to get on people's good side, sometimes acting nice to achieve this. He has also shown that he cries easily, especially in alarming situations.

Because his personality made him a target for bullying during elementary school, he created a kinder persona in middle school to get along better with others. During this time, Mitsuba was kind, considerate, and friendly to everyone.

Despite being rude and loud, Mitsuba also has a more mature side. When he talks about his past, he becomes considerably despondent, feels lonely easily, and although he seems to have trouble being honest, he is sometimes capable of expressing genuine happiness and kindness.

His camera and photography are very important to him, almost to the point of obsession, according to Kou. He used to be a member of the photography club and had even won several awards.

History
It is mostly unknown, since Mitsuba rarely talks about her past, but thanks to the manga we were able to learn about her mother and the possible cause of her death (Manga chapter 74).

Mitsuba lived a normal life with her mother since her father had passed away. She always had a "peculiar" way of treating her mother, repeatedly telling her how bad she looked in her loungewear and everyday clothes (constantly telling her to put on makeup, style her hair "properly," and similar things). One year, on Sousuke's mother's birthday, Mitsuba offered to cook dinner. When her mother returned home, the lights were on and the house smelled of curry. Mitsuba had left a note on the table saying she had gone out to buy potatoes for dinner that night, and this scene implies that it was the night she died.

In another scene, Mitsuba is shown standing on the road with the faint lights of a car, so it could be said that he was run over and killed.

Aoi Akane (commonly called "Akane-kun")

Nicknames and Titles of Aoi Akane: Akane-kun: This is the most frequent way his schoolmates and Aoi Aoi herself call him in the manga and anime Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun. Vice President: Although it is a school position on the student council, many characters address him this way because of his official role. Number One: He is known as this because of his identity as one of the Clock Guardians (the school mysteries or "ghost stories").

Akane (蒼井茜) is a male first-year student at Kamome Academy, classmates with Yashiro Nene and Aoi, and the vice president of the student council. He also secretly fulfills his role as a supernatural being who controls the present, as one of the three Clock Guardians, along with Kako and Mirai.

Characteristics
Appearance
Akane's hair and eyes are reddish-brown.

As a human, Akane wears the standard Kamome Academy High School uniform, with a vest over her shirt. Like Teru, Akane wears the green and white Student Union armband on her left sleeve, held in place with a safety pin.

Akane normally wears a pair of rectangular glasses, which were enchanted by Teru. She didn't wear glasses before entering Kamome Academy, and she doesn't wear them in her Clock Guardian form either.

As the Guardian of the Clock, Akane has a long, thin ponytail (adorned with a gold beaded hair accessory) near the nape of her neck, though her hairstyle remains unchanged. She wears a long-sleeved black collared shirt with a cream-colored tie, a white vest, white trousers, and dark-colored shoes. The shirt cuffs are also white, and she wears a pair of thin bracelets midway between her elbows and shoulders.

Like the other Watch Guardians, Akane wears a long, dark blue cloak with a hood, which is cream-colored with a pattern of small reddish triangles on the inside. The cloak is held closed by a golden braid between two tassels on the lapels, and there is a similar set of braids and tassels on her vest.

Like Kako, Akane wears an asymmetrical owl-shaped mask with an aquiline nose, though she usually removes it immediately after transforming. Akane often wears white gloves as well.

Akane has a golden pocket watch with a chain and tassel attached, which she uses to stop time. She sometimes carries a bat with several crooked claws, which she uses to hit people, especially Aoi.

Personality
Akane is deeply in love with Aoi, often letting her affection cloud her judgment. As childhood friends, Akane is extremely protective of her and would do anything to ensure her safety and well-being. She also seems to have no interest in anything or anyone other than Aoi, often acting cynically and sarcastically toward most people who aren't Aoi.

Akane is a reliable and hardworking student with a professional attitude. He excels in both sports and academics and is currently the vice president of the student council.

Furthermore, he harbors a deep hatred for supernatural beings, believing they do not understand the inherent value of human life. He told Teru that he wished to continue the normal life he had led until now, despite having become one of the Watchtower Guardians.

Skills
Powers of the number 1
Akane rules the present as the second of three Clock Guardians, having been tricked into a six-year contract on his first day at Kamome Academy. He uses a pocket watch (which he received after making the contract to become a Clock Guardian) to stop time. Like the other Clock Guardians, a clock face appears over the target of Akane's powers when he stops time. His contract will last until he graduates.

According to Akane, she can only stop time up to three times a day for five minutes each time, and only within the school grounds. Akane appears capable of stopping more than one person or object (during the same five-minute period) with a single use of her power, as seen when she froze both the lamp and Kou simultaneously. She can also stop a person's time while Kako is rewinding the school's time, so they are not affected by the time reversal. However, Akane's powers do not work in Mirai.

Although Akane is quite strong even in his human form, he seems to possess additional strength when he is a Clock Guardian, shattering a wall with a single punch and breaking a teacup with a squeeze. These events appear to occur when he is emotionally agitated, surprising both Akane himself and those around him. Akane is also able to catch Hanako off guard (as seen when he grabbed Hanako's arm with the knife), but he cannot keep up with Mirai even in this form. When Akane transforms into a Clock Guardian, his attire also changes, including his cape (with the hood up) and owl-shaped mask.

Glasses
Akane usually wears a pair of enchanted glasses that Teru made for him. These suppress his spiritual power to that of a normal human, allowing him to live a normal life, although it seems the enchantment wasn't completely perfect since Akane could still pull Hanako out of Nene's body even with the glasses on. [1]

However, this can also be dangerous, as Akane cannot see supernatural beings while wearing the glasses and may unknowingly fall victim to them. Notably, Akane and Lemon were affected by the Tree of Confession, and Akane also failed to perceive the Mokke even when it was attacking her. Teru can also use his exorcist abilities on Akane when she is wearing the glasses, though it is unclear whether Akane would otherwise be immune to Teru's powers.

It seems the glasses can't completely hide Akane's presence from the rest of the Seven Mysteries. Hanako was able to identify the Clock Guardian as being in Nene's class, even though Akane was still wearing the glasses at that moment.

Trivia
Like Aoi, her favorite snack is raspberry cake, but apparently she will like whatever Aoi makes for her (even though she has never made anything for her).
She supposedly has no worries and lives happily every day because Aoi is cute. Her best subject is math and her weakness is literature.
In the previous exams, Akane ranked first among 224 students.
In the most recent applications, she took second place after Aoi, with 500 out of 500 points.

Akane Aoi: (commonly called "Aoi")

Aoi Akane (赤根葵) is a supporting character in Jibaku Shōnen. She is a student at Kamome Academy and Yashiro Nene's best friend. She is also Akane Aoi's childhood friend, for whom she has deep romantic feelings.
Appearance
Aoi is a cute, petite girl with indigo-purple hair and eyes. She keeps her hair styled in two circular sections behind her head. Her bangs are loose to frame her face, and two thin, wavy strands fall in front of her ears, cascading down over her chest.

He wears the regular uniform of Kamome Academy.

Kannagi Appearance
As Kannagi, she is shown wearing a traditional outfit appropriate for the sacrifice of No. 6's attendants. She wears two magenta flowers in her hair, a light teal coat, and a black hakama tied with a large bow behind her. In Chapter 69, we use the hem of her dress as bandages to wrap Akane's wound on her abdomen.

She received a Teru protection amulet, which is a woven bracelet with a bell and a tassel at the end.
Personality
Aoi is a sweet and cheerful person who is very close to her friend, Nene. Although she says she doesn't like scary stories, she continues to delve into them to cheer Nene up, as she knows Nene enjoys them. Considering her enthusiastic presentation and continued participation in the stories, it's possible she has some interest in them herself. She is shown to adore romance, as evidenced by her enthusiastic support of Nene's romantic endeavors and her enjoyment of discussing crushes. Despite her repeated rejections of his advances, she was also quite jealous and upset when her childhood friend, Akane, apparently started dating someone else.

Aoi is also shown to be skilled with words and can easily manipulate people with minimal pressure. She is particularly harsh with Akane, dismissing each of her love confessions while smiling cheerfully.

If Teru is the king of popularity at Kamome Academy, Aoi is the queen. She receives confessions from all sides, though she easily rejects her suitors.

True Personality
Her true personality reveals her as someone who looks down on others, as Akane stated. Despite this, Aoi also has a low opinion of herself, constantly putting on a mask of perfection in an effort to please. This backfires when she comes to believe that others will only be disappointed when they learn of her flaws, causing her to become bitter and resentful of all her classmates and forcing her to suppress all her emotions and negative traits for fear of being ostracized.

Aoi believes Akane's feelings are directed toward her false self, and that her "real" self isn't good enough for her love. Aoi feels she has no one to trust or confide in, as all her loved ones deceive her, and no one understands or cares about who she truly is. Ultimately, Aoi is a deeply lonely and unhappy person.

Chapter 64 Number 6.

She no longer maintains a cheerful facade in later chapters, but she still has innately kind intentions when dealing with Akane (despite cynically saying she didn't want to look at the wound at all). She also becomes very emotional after her argument with Akane and tries to run away. When he reveals that he had known her true personality all along and cares for her regardless, Aoi begins to cry, finally understanding that Akane loves her for who she is. While trapped in Far Shore, Aoi's biggest regret is that she never told Akane "I like you too" until the very end.

Past
Chapter 69

As she grew up with Akane, she began to develop a cheerful facade to hide her true thoughts, but despite these changes, she was still perceived as different from everyone else. This led to people either idolizing her or accusing her when she attended Kamome Gakuen. Although Nene and Akane were the two people she confided in, she avoided explaining her personal thoughts or showing her true personality, which was the aspect Akane despised the most. However, she remained true to her feelings for Akane when she saw her cry as a child, suggesting that it was the first time she had seen her true self.

Trivia
His favorite snack is raspberry pie.
Her recent concern is how busy Nene seems to be lately.
Hell of Mirrors
Aoi studies a lot constantly and daily.
In the previous exam, he ranked 40th out of 224 students, while in the most recent one he ranked first with 510 out of 500 points.
He's afraid of lightning, but he doesn't want to admit it.
She prefers the left direction.
He used to carry a giraffe plush toy in his childhood, which foreshadowed his love for giraffes.
In Chapter 70, Aoi decides to reveal a little more about herself, saying that she likes giraffes, but she's never actually seen one before. She also dislikes being in crowds. Her favorite treats are desserts and other sweets, to which Akane remarks that she liked that pastry shop across from the station. She also enjoys playing games.

Minamoto Teru

Teru Minamoto (源輝) is a supporting character in Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun. He is a second-year student at Kamome Academy and the Student Council President; he is also an exorcist from the renowned Minamoto Clan, and the older brother of Kou and Tiara.

Characteristics
Appearance
Teru is tall and slender, with blond hair (a bit spikier and longer around the base of his neck than his younger brother Kou's) and blue eyes. He is widely considered handsome, which contributes to his great popularity at school.

He wears the standard high school division uniform, but with a long-sleeved cream-colored blouse with the sleeves rolled back instead of the usual short-sleeved blue blouse worn by most of the other male students. Teru also wears a red and white Student Council armband on his left arm, like Akane. He sometimes carries a black clipboard with some papers attached.

Like his brother Kou, Teru carries exorcist tools with him even at school, always wearing a red and yellow bracelet (similar to prayer beads) on his right wrist. He also usually carries a sword, either in a sheath hanging from his belt on his left side or in a black cloth scabbard on his back.

As an exorcist, he occasionally wears traditional clothing while battling supernatural forces. When he was younger, he carried his sword sheath on a strap over his left shoulder.

On his days off, he casually wears an unbuttoned shirt with a t-shirt underneath.

Personality
He is calm, reliable, and well-liked by his colleagues. He is also very perceptive, finding it easy to recognize and identify supernatural events.

In the first chapter, Nene describes Teru as attractive, intelligent, and an amazing person who is kind to everyone—the Prince of the school. Teru himself, however, doesn't seem to boast about this reputation. After hearing Nene's compliments, he simply thanked her and apologized for startling her.

She's compared him to TV stars or idols, saying that just looking at him makes people happy. His warm personality appeals not only to girls his own age but also to boys, some of whom have even been willing to unbutton their school uniforms so Teru can replace the one he lost.

He is especially kind to his siblings, Kou and Tiara, tending to almost always do what they both ask him to do.

When Kou forced him to eat a donut to shut him up, instead of refusing it, he just ate it calmly.

Despite his kind personality, he has shown that he can also be sadistic and cruel at times. With Akane, the Student Council Vice-President is quite affectionate and sometimes treats her as if she were the most precious thing he owns.

When performing exorcisms, he always wears a disgusted expression, leading people to believe that he considers all supernatural beings to be evil entities that must be exorcised. However, there seem to be some exceptions, such as the Mokke, whom he neither likes nor dislikes, and he tolerates their presence because his sister Tiara likes them.

His style of exorcising seems to rely heavily on rendering the enemy helpless and then proceeding to exorcise him, which is sometimes presented as a cruel method to others.

Skills
Spirit sword and lightning
As the eldest son of the Minamoto clan, Teru has been a highly skilled exorcist since he was young. He was able to single-handedly exorcise a powerful Supernatural using his sword and spirit beam even when he was only eight years old (though it is said that Tiara possesses even greater spiritual energy than him despite her young age).

Teru wields a long katana as his primary weapon. Unlike Kou and Tiara (who possess a white lightning bolt), Teru creates a black spirit lightning bolt with his katana. Teru's lightning is shown to be considerably stronger than Kou's, as it is capable of severely damaging Hanako to the point of knocking him unconscious and directly damaging an opponent's soul from within after a stab. The lightning can also travel a considerable distance, as seen when Teru surprised Hanako from behind and when he attacked several zombies from an adjacent rooftop. On the other hand, it is unknown whether Teru's lightning would have any effect on Hanako when the latter uses his cloak, as Kou's would not.

Ray cage
Teru is able to form a lightning cage that can keep Hanako's hakujoudai at bay. According to Kou, it's impossible to escape the lightning cage, although Teru shouldn't be able to manipulate lightning so easily using his sword, since it's a specialized weapon.

Bracelet
Teru always wears a bracelet around his right wrist as an exorcism tool, which can be easily moved and its length changed with a gesture from Teru. He is often shown using this bracelet on Akane, tying it to the ceiling or restraining her in a specific position by placing it in a ring around her. Although intended to capture supernatural beings, Teru has also used it against Kou once, to keep him out of the way while Teru attacks Hanako. However, unlike Akane, Kou was eventually able to free himself from the restraints, though Teru seemed very surprised by this.

Other skills
In addition to exorcisms, Teru is shown to be capable of other things, such as enchanting glasses for Akane and scattering salt in the air after Nene opens a jar. He was able to prepare a proper purification with salt water for an infected Mokke zombie, though it escaped before he could purify it.

Teru is also in good physical shape, as seen when he kicked Hanako, causing him to lose his balance and drop his knife. This allows Teru to attack with the katana, and Kou notes that this is Teru's usual method for exorcising supernatural beings. Teru is also able to physically drag Akane to his room and easily leap between rooftops across a considerable gap.

Trivia
Her favorite food is sweet potato jellies.
Teru's biggest concern is that Kou doesn't seem to need him as much anymore compared to when they were little.
Teru Minamoto is canonically handsome, so many girls fall in love with him, including the protagonist.
In an additional illustration in Volume 2, Teru's age is stated to be 17. Since he is in his second year of high school, this implies that his birthday may be at the beginning of the Japanese academic year (which starts in April), because it has already occurred in the canon timeline (in summer, around June or July).
Teru's best subject is English, and she has no weak subjects. In the previous round of exams, she ranked first out of 231 students in her year.
In the end-of-term exams, he again takes first place with a total of 502 out of 500 points, and the bonus of 2 points comes from his English essay, which exceeded expectations.
He makes rounds to exorcise the supernatural at night, which forces him to rest alone after school.
He is mentioned in the pilot, where it is implied that his last name is "Adashino" instead of his real last name from the main series, Minamoto.
Unlike Aoi, he prefers the right direction.
Like her little sister, she thinks it's fun to witness lightning.
Whenever Teru exceeds his limits, he has a habit of crushing and moving the nearest supernatural being he can find and grab within reach, usually a Mokke.

Minamoto Kou

Kou Minamoto (源光) is one of the main characters in Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun. He is a young exorcist belonging to the Minamoto Exorcist Clan and is the younger brother of Minamoto Teru.
Characteristics
Appearance
She has short, choppy blond hair, with a wide strand that falls in the middle of her forehead. Her eyes are light blue.

Like the other male students at Kamome Academy, his uniform consists of a light blue short-sleeved shirt with a white striped sash; white tight-fitting trousers with a belt; and shoes of the same shade with a green detail at the toes. Kou also wears a red bracelet on his right wrist and an amulet hanging from his right ear. He often carries a Thunder Staff.

Personality
Kou is cheerful, straightforward, and tends to jump into things without thinking them through. Throughout the story, he has shown himself to be more mature.

He's often mistaken for a delinquent or a tough guy, but that's not really the case. He's reckless and loud, but at the same time, he's also very kind and protective. He makes a distinct effort to be polite to girls; even when he was about to confront Hanako during their first encounter, he took the time to be polite to Nene and warn her of the danger she was in.

He has also been kind and open-minded enough to change his mind about Hanako and befriend her. This is likely due to the pressure he received from his older brother to exorcise the ghost, and his lifelong belief that supernatural beings are evil.

Yashiro Nene

Hanako-kun. She is a high school student who loves school gossip and desperately wants a handsome boyfriend. She also suffers from a curse that turns her into a fish if she touches water. She is also the assistant in the seventh mystery. Appearance
Nene Yashiro is a young girl with large magenta eyes that have orange/yellow highlights. Her waist-length hair is a light cream color, gradually fading to a soft teal at the tips, and is styled with baby bangs. She wears two dark brown magatama hair accessories on one side of her head, which pull back some of her hair. Occasionally, Nene wears other hairstyles such as braids and pigtails.

His hair color matches his characteristic nickname, "Radish," due to his main insecurity: his legs are much thicker than those of other characters in the series, which makes him a frequent target of ridicule. His ankles are drawn even more horribly than those of the other characters.

Nene's Kamome Gakuen uniform consists of a cream-colored sailor dress that reaches her knees and has a scalloped hem. The skirt lining is a deep magenta, while the collar, cuffs, and pockets are brown with cream trim. The bow around her neck is the same color as her dress and includes brown stripes; Nene also places her personal skull brooch on the bow. Nene wears the standard cream and orange uniform shoes, but chooses to wear dark brown stockings with a small crescent moon pattern near the ankles instead of the usual brown knee-high socks.

Festival appearance
During the Tanabata festival with the supernatural beings, Nene styles her hair and puts on a white yukata with large red floral patterns, tied with a red obi. She also wears a white crown (Hitaikakushi, also known as the Heaven's Crown) provided by Hanako to disguise herself as a supernatural being at the festival and avoid causing trouble.

Youthful appearance
At the start of school orientation, Nene was seen with shorter hair, cut to her shoulders, while having her picture taken with her parents. The Kamome Gakuen junior high school uniform for girls is slightly different from the junior high school uniform, featuring longer sleeves, darker base colors, and knee-high socks with leather shoes.

Yashiro Nene Festival
Fish-like appearance
Due to a curse she received after ingesting mermaid scales, Nene transforms into a small fish whenever she comes into contact with water. In her fish form, she has deep, round eyes and light pink scales that fade to teal on her tail and fins. She has two small brown horns and retains her ribbon with a skull brooch. Her fish form is considered very beautiful by the Mermaid Servants.

When she's not fully transformed into a fish, her body, even with just a little moisture, can cause Nene's pink fish scales to appear on her skin. The scales will disappear after she dries.

Mokke's appearance
During a dream, Nene discovers she has become a Mokke. However, she still wears her two horn-shaped hairpins and her skeleton brooch, and the other Mokkes greet her just like one of their own kind.

Lifespan
During the Clock Guardians arc, it's revealed that Yashiro has very little time left to live. This is why she can see Hanako-kun. This is discovered because Mirai, a small specter who is part of Mystery Number One and has the ability to advance the time of anything she touches, manages to touch Yashiro. Because she has almost no time left to live, she is left in a lifeless state. However, thanks to Kako (who is also part of Mystery Number One and can rewind time), time is rewound and Yashiro returns to normal, but her lifespan remains the same.

Yugi Tsukasa

Yugi Tsukasa (柚木つかさ) is the main antagonist of Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun. He is a ghost who haunts Kamome Academy, and is also Hanako's younger twin brother. He currently resides in the school's Radio Club room, along with members Sakura and Natsuhiko, and currently Mitsuba. Appearance
Tsukasa has honey-colored eyes like Hanako and is short in stature, wearing a cap just like his brother's. He is often seen with a smile that reveals his fangs.

Personality
When he used to be alive, Tsukasa had a calm but active personality, although Amane commented as a child that during festivals, Tsukasa would often play katanuki for hours until he got the prize, even if he had to miss dinner to achieve it, and if they prevented him from achieving it, he would become somewhat violent.

As a ghost, Tsukasa acts quite cheerful and immature (on purpose). He genuinely adores his older brother, Amane, and happily jumps into his arms at the mere sight of him. He is treated like a small child by Sakura, to whom he is connected by a contract. However, he is capable of carrying out acts of extreme violence without any remorse; this is demonstrated when he gleefully slices a pufferfish to pieces just to see what it looks like inside, despite being warned and ignoring Sakura's warning. Sentimental and enigmatic, it is unclear what motivates him to meddle with the supernatural beings at the academy.

He's manipulative, capable of twisting someone's words to get what he wants. This is more than evident when Tsukasa alters Mitsuba's rumor to create the monstrous "Boy with a Broken Neck at the School Entrance." He's quite controlling; in the Mirror Hell Arc, he refused to back down unless someone did what he ordered.

Tsukasa seems to place little importance on the topic of his own murder, often referring to it without hesitation. He even uses his death to take advantage of Hanako, who becomes distressed and guilty at the mere mention of the subject. He derives pleasure from seeing pain on another person's face, claiming that Amane's face before he killed him is his "favorite expression." This is because Tsukasa loves seeing the guilt Amane feels after hearing Tsukasa remind him of when he killed him.

Tsukasa's story explained in the red house.

In chapter 75 of the manga, Tsukasa appears as a child when he was alive. In his past, at the age of four, he sacrificed himself for his older brother (Amane) after learning that Amane had no more time to live and made a pact with the entity that lived in his house called "the demon of the red house."

First, we begin with Tsukasa's wish. Since they are Japanese, they have beliefs about "entities" or "gods."

To explain, one day Amane falls gravely ill and is at risk of dying. At that time, Tsukasa already knew of the entity's existence, as he had made simple wishes, such as for a book, among other things, in exchange for an animal or living being. All of this was for Amane, as he had never asked for anything for himself.

Tsukasa knew that to receive a wish, one had to give something of roughly equal value. So, Tsukasa wished for her brother's health to improve so he could grow up to be an adult and become an astronaut and go to the moon. However, Tsukasa sacrificed herself after spending time with her brother one "last time" on his birthday, as a way to fulfill her wish.

That's when Tsukasa disappears, remaining trapped in a time paradox within the red house. In other words, the red house is a place where time doesn't flow; you're neither in the past, nor in the future, nor in the present.

Now we'll explain; Let's go back to Minamoto Kou and Nene Yashiro when we entered the red house (this is when the separation happens)

They weren't even in the future, past, or present when they entered the red house; that's when they met Tsukasa. Tsukasa wasn't even in the future or the past; he was just in that house. Time didn't come or go.

Now, getting back to the point, it all happens when Minamoto Kou tells Tsukasa that Hanako-kun (Yugi Amane) was going to die at the age of 13 after killing his younger brother. There, Tsukasa realizes that his sacrifice had all been in vain, so in the end, the entity in the red house hadn't actually granted his wish (that Amane would live to adulthood). Tsukasa had every right to return, but it was the entity that hesitated. It became angry when Kou and Nene tried to get Tsukasa out of the house and began attacking them. Tsukasa then discovers that the house is weak against fire, so he decides to burn it down. When Kou and Nene returned to their own time, Tsukasa stood in the house for a moment, thinking about what Kou had told him: "Amane will die at the age of 13 after killing his younger brother." Tsukasa decided that he would return, and upon returning (it is because he returned to HIS time), the entity of the red house remained in Tsukasa's chest.

Yugi Tsuk
As shown in the image, the entity, having nowhere else to go, ends up in Tsukasa, since Tsukasa had destroyed the red house with fire.

They both returned some time later (after a few months), it was then that Tsukasa made his return to his present.

And as expected, the mother noticed something "strange" about Tsukasa. She observed that her son was exhibiting "peculiar" behavior, and by this I mean, the Ende, what was inside Tsukasa. Now, this is where the topic of Tsukasa's obsession with Amane comes in. It's very simple: he wants to know why Amane failed to fulfill Tsukasa's wish after his sacrifice, why it was in vain and why it didn't come to pass.

In short, Tsukasa was ALWAYS the same. He grew up and died at 13, murdered by his older brother (Amane). The reason for the murder is still unknown. But there's a huge coincidence in all of this: Tsukasa died from a stab wound to the chest, the exact spot where the Ende is located.

Another detail: When Tsukasa returned, his mother no longer paid him much attention due to his "strange behavior." Technically, Tsukasa often had problems with his mother because he never received maternal attention, as she treated him like a monster. (This is because his mother would say, "This child is NOT my son.")

Facts about Yugi Tsukasa you didn't know.
Yugi Tsukasa, having the power within him at the end, possesses quite a few abilities.

Since he's a Yorishiro, it's unusual that he possesses such immense strength, even surpassing Hanako-kun (Yugi Amane). His final state within Tsukasa suggests he has the ability to control various aspects of himself. This explains his power, allowing him to destroy even a school mystery (as seen with mystery #3 in the Hell of Mirrors, and how easily he defeated the clock guardians).

It's also common sense; a yorishiro literally isn't capable of being that powerful. Another point is that Tsukasa has the ability to grant wishes to apparitions. Hanako-kun (Yugi Amane) can only grant one wish, and only for the people who summon him (living people). What do I mean by this? Simple. The ende used to grant wishes in exchange for a sacrifice; now, being inside Tsukasa, it gave him the power to grant wishes to apparitions. And it's obvious that a yorishiro doesn't have that power, while an ende does. That's where Tsukasa gets his power, thanks to the ende. Without it, Tsukasa would be just a child; technically, you could say he'd be like Sumire.

Hanako

Hanako (花子), real name Yugi Amane (柚木普), is the main protagonist and eponymous hero of the anime and manga Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun. He is a ghost who haunts the old Kamome Academy building. He resides in the girls' bathroom of the abandoned building, in the third stall.

Characteristics
Appearance
Hanako has pale skin, a slender build, messy black hair, and honey-colored eyes.

He also has some "Haku Joudai" that accompany him.

He wears an old-fashioned Japanese school uniform, almost entirely black except for red, white, and gold details. A white piece of paper with the kanji for '封' in red is stuck to his left cheek. He also wears a black gakuran with gold buttons, a white collar, and red trim, along with black shoes and red socks. His black hat has a white underside, a gold emblem, and red stripes along the front seam to match his uniform.

On her left cheek, Hanako wears a white seal with a red kanji for 封 (Seal) written on it.

Personality
Hanako is usually cheerful, optimistic, self-confident, and somewhat perverted, but he can also be threatening and terrifying in any situation he dislikes, though these tense moments always end with a smile from him as if nothing had happened. He likes to keep things calm and tends to stop any conflict involving spirits or people connected to them, as that is his job and duty.

He tends to joke around constantly, and it's hard to know when he's telling the truth and when he's not, but he's still a reliable person who will feign disinterest while secretly doing everything he can to help.

Conversely, when we are introduced to Yugi Amane, he is portrayed as a terrified, weak, timid child who is easily embarrassed but forces a smile so that no one will worry about him. Amane blames himself for the things that happen to him and forgives without resentment the one who caused all his hurt. This suggests that Hanako's personality is simply a mask concealing the true Yugi Amane, who only emerges when he is with Tsukasa or Nene. These two are the only ones who can bring out this side of him, especially Tsukasa.

History
Hanako is one of the seven school mysteries, being number seven and the most popular among them. Known as "Hanako-san of the Bathroom," she also has her own rumor: that she lives in the third stall of the girls' bathroom on the third floor of the old building and will grant wishes to anyone who summons her, but in return, she will take something precious from that person. It's worth noting that these rumors mention that Hanako is female.

Being the most popular among them is not the only thing that makes him stand out, as he also fulfills the role of leader or boss among the mysteries, who obey him as such.

He is responsible for getting rid of evil apparitions and ensuring that peace always exists between specters and humans; that is, he will solve any problem that arises, regardless of the cost, and if necessary, he will eliminate those he considers a nuisance.

According to his own words, this duty and position was given to him by God, who gave him this second chance so that he could free himself from any guilt by purifying his sin and thus one day be able to rest in peace.

Past
Hanako when he was human.
Hanako when he was human.

Yugi Amane died at the age of 13 in the 1960s and the reason for his death is still unknown, although certain attitudes of his suggest that it was suicide.

Amane was a child fascinated by astronomy, and his most cherished dream was to become an astronaut and one day go to the moon. But his dreams were thwarted by certain things that went wrong in his life, things that remain unknown. Whenever Hanako is shown alive, he is always bruised, crying, or with his belongings destroyed, and Amane himself refuses to name the person responsible for these acts. Even so, he clarifies that he forgives that person; after all, he is the only one to blame for everything.

He was a lonely boy with no friends and constantly skipped classes. He had a small rock that he adored, claiming it came from the moon, and even considered it his own treasure because he felt he could go anywhere with it; however, he ended up giving it to Tsuchigomori, his tutor, saying he no longer needed it, as he didn't plan on going anywhere ever again.

According to his book belonging to the library at 4:00 PM sharp, Amane would become a science teacher and work at the school where the story takes place, but he changed all that, making him the only human who could go against his already written and supposedly inevitable destiny.

Much information about his parents is unknown to date, such as their names or jobs, although they have been seen in volumes 16 and 17.

Relations
Yashiro Nene
She summons him to help her with her love troubles, but after certain events, he ends up becoming her assistant. Yashiro becomes his first friend, but little by little that image fades, and before he knows it, she means much more to him than just a friend. Despite knowing the tragic fate that awaits Yashiro, he can't help but grow fond of her, and that's why he now seeks every possible way to ensure her continued life; he wants to give her a long future.

20a29eb680a9d532198790febbed21d8
Hanako tends to flirt with Yashiro a lot and doesn't mind getting too close, to the point of constantly hugging her or making even minimal contact whenever he can. But when Yashiro makes the first move, Hanako appears embarrassed, blushing, and shy in response to her sudden actions. This is evident in the times Yashiro mentions that he likes Hanako or when she kisses him on the cheek, telling him to take it as a lucky charm for strength.

He gets jealous when someone gets too close to her or mentions that someone likes her. This is shown when he's bothered by the closeness between Kou and Yashiro, stepping between them and then protectively hugging her. It's also shown when Akane mentions that Kou likes Yashiro, but before she can finish the sentence, Hanako angrily silences her. Additionally, in Chapter 62 of the manga, he interrupts Akane and Yashiro after Yashiro threatens to kiss her.

She is the only one, apart from Tsukasa, who can bring out Hanako's true personality.

Furthermore, it suffices to say that Yashiro tells Aoi in chapter 12 of the anime that he fell in love with an apparition, and near the end it is shown that Hanako already knew this, since he tells the mermaid's servants that Yashiro likes him, which gives more and more indications that she will become his girlfriend.

Minamoto Kou.
They met when Kou tried to exorcise him, though it failed completely because Hanako was too strong for him. Even so, he gave him strength, assuring him that one day he would become a great exorcist and that he would be eagerly awaiting that day.

Dd
Kou's perspective on Hanako changed during the Misaki Stairs Arc, where he convinced himself that Hanako wasn't an evil spirit, despite her constant annoyance. Their relationship deepened further when Kou stood up to his brother, Minamoto Teru, to save Hanako from being exorcised by him.

Hanako and Kou have a great deal of trust in each other and have created a relationship where they tease, joke around, and have fun with one another. They are romantic rivals; in fact, Hanako tends to get jealous whenever he gets too close to Yashiro or sees them spending time together, to the point of interfering or interrupting any scene between the two.

In the False World Arc, Hanako and Kou clash over their differing approaches to saving Yashiro. Hanako criticizes Kou for not doing anything to help despite his promise, while Kou is completely against remaining in the world created by Mei. This was the only time they argued like this; afterward, everything returned to normal.

Yugi Tsukasa
Almost nothing is known about their relationship when they were alive, apart from the small clues dropped by both brothers; so far the reason for their actions has not been mentioned and Hanako's attitudes suggest that he is truly afraid of his brother, who, far from being scared of his killer, is the one who approaches and intimidates his brother claiming that he loves him.

B3f12069f47cf18349d058ba5a50cc6b
Tsukasa has a toxic relationship with his brother, as he doesn't hesitate to approach him whenever they meet, terrorizing him with his innocent yet unsettling smile. According to a young Hanako, Tsukasa becomes violent when he doesn't get what he wants or when he can't do what he wants, so it's no surprise how afraid Hanako is of him.

Even so, during the False World Arc, where all the Specters had to act as if they were alive, both Hanako and Tsukasa behaved like typical siblings, with the younger brother constantly following the older one around with admiration and clinging to him in an irritating way. Tsukasa hugged him whenever he could and showed the same interest in astronomy as his brother, though with much less enthusiasm due to his childish and absent-minded personality, while Hanako appeared more mature, trying to calm him down and gently push him away.

Tsukasa shows no resentment towards Hanako; in fact, it's quite the opposite. Tsukasa is the one who says he loves the face Hanako made when he killed him, implying that perhaps he was the one who incited him to commit such an act.

Tsuchigomori
He was his teacher before his death and the only one he got along with at school. Despite being a friendless boy, he spent time with Tsuchigomori after class, who tended to his wounds and chided him for his lack of interest in his lessons. Tsuchigomori knew what the future held for Hanako, so his concern for him was merely feigned. He was certain that, regardless of what he said, Hanako would end up fulfilling his dream and working alongside him.

3
Hanako's trust and attachment to him is strengthened when she decides to give him her moon rock, which in the future would become Tsuchigomori's Yorishiro, that is, his most valuable treasure.

On the other hand, Tsuchigomori is happy to see Hanako spending time with Kou and Yashiro, as the lonely boy has finally found two friends who care about him. However, he also laments Hanako's passing, saying that his life was too short to end like that.
