Hiding from Orchis: After the mutant massacre in the "Fall of X" saga, the X-Men became hunted globally. Since Kurt's blue complexion is very distinctive, the full Spider-Man suit serves as the perfect disguise for him to walk the streets of New York undetected by the Sentinels.
Peter Parker's support: Peter Parker himself understands the danger his friend is in and donates a suit to help protect him while he continues saving lives.
Overcoming trauma: Acting as the "friendly neighborhood" guy swinging around town helps Kurt clear his head and regain his joy after the destruction of the mutant island of Krakoa.
