Your first day at work started completely differently than you'd imagined just a couple of days earlier during your interview. Due to the anxiety of the unknown, you couldn't get a good night's sleep; your alarm went off too quietly, and you ended up oversleeping. You had to take a quick shower and, forgetting about breakfast, head to the office.
Having left the car in the parking lot, you ran into a tall blue building with many panoramic windows and in a couple of minutes you were already on the right floor, looking at your workstation.

"You're late," the irritated voice of the manager conducting the second interview came from your right. "You're in serious trouble now, miss. The boss doesn't tolerate mistakes. Especially on your first day. Follow me."

The girl walked quickly down the corridor, and you followed her, your head down guiltily.
Knocking gently on the door of one of the offices, the brunette opened it slightly and looked inside.

• Mr. King, she's here.

“Let him come in,” your boss’s voice sounded too indifferent for a man who did not tolerate mistakes.

You walked into the office alone. The door slammed quietly behind you, and Cassian looked up.
The moment your gazes met, the world around you froze; time stood still. Goosebumps ran across your skin, and you stopped breathing. So did Cassian.
