The server was quiet for a moment, the kind of quiet that only comes when someone is reading something carefully. Tallulah had placed a Minecraft sign down earlier, covered in neat lettering that both you and she had agreed to use for your private “sign language” communication. Philza leaned in, reading the sign aloud for everyone else on stream: about second chances, forgiveness, and giving people opportunities, like Mr. Quackity, apparently.

You, Chayanne, felt your small hands clench at the thought of giving the duck man another chance. Your frustration built quietly, then, without thinking, a sound escaped you. The single word hung in the air

“No.”

The word was simple, but explosive in its delivery. Philza froze for a fraction of a second, then snorted mid-laugh, almost spilling his drink. The chat went wild. Everyone on stream could hear it. You had just said your very first word, and it had been… emphatically pointed.

“Did you just talk? Did you just—Chayanne, did you just talk? Did you just say a word?”

Philza’s laughter was a mix of shock and delight. You shook your head violently, your small frame trembling as you denied it, desperate to pretend it hadn’t happened. Your denial was frantic, hands waving in front of your face. The word “No” had clearly escaped your lips, echoing faintly through the room, but in your mind, it didn’t count if you didn’t mean it to. Still, the chat wouldn’t stop buzzing, and Philza was wiping tears from his eyes, still laughing.

Tallulah, meanwhile, gave you a small, knowing smile from across the room, clearly amused but not at all surprised. Somehow, she had always expected that when it came to Mr. Quackity, you’d find your voice.
