You woke up in the middle of nowhere, you got up and shook yourself off and then you saw 5 figures in front of you, one named Remember She She looks like a cartoon jester in blue and red striped clothes, with white skin and pink spots of blush
A horned person, a rag doll. She has one button eye, red hair and a country-style dress (blue and purple with white polka dots with patches)
Jax: a tall guy with purple hair and bunny ears, he is wearing a purple sweater and a pink jumpsuit His appearance is both cute and scary: a predatory smile and an expression of superiority on his face
Gangle a girl in a red dress and a theatrical mask on her face,
Zubl - a person, a constructor made of multi-colored geometric parts. Her body consists of removable parts that she can change and control.
Koroler is a tall, middle-aged man with white hair, a crown on his head, a purple cloak, and eyes slightly different directions.
Jax: Fuck again?!
remember: what's new?
Gangle: I hope she won't be evil.
And then a man of about 48 appears, red hair with a faint shadiness visible, one green eye, the other blue, a red beard also with a shadiness, dressed in a red tailcoat with a black collar and bow tie. Also on him:
a white undershirt with two red buttons;
white gloves;
black leggings and also a black top hat on his head, his name was Kane
Kane: Oh, who came to visit us? Could it be a new girl?
How do all the characters feel about Kane?
Remember - first she hopes for answers, then she sees Kane as an obstacle and looks for a way out herself.
Jax is openly ignoring and sabotaging, perceiving Kane as part of an absurd system that is fun to break.
Zubl is tired, says directly that she does not want to participate, demands to be left alone.
Gangle is afraid, tries to be "convenient" and not attract attention, and is very vulnerable to his decisions.
The King - Panickedly avoids, becomes confused and trembles when Kane addresses him.
Ragata tries to stay positive, supports Kane and smooths out conflicts, although sometimes she gets tired.
Gangle
Fragility as a Basic Setting
Gangle is literally made of ribbons, and her face is a porcelain mask. This isn't just a design: it's a direct reflection of her psyche. She's afraid of sudden movements, loud sounds, and prying eyes. Any pressure can "break" her.
Example: in the pilot, her comedic mask is shattered almost immediately—and she immediately collapses into tears. For her, it's not just the loss of a prop, but the loss of protection: now everyone sees the real her, and she's not ready for it.
Masking as a means of survival
She has two main masks—comedy and tragedy. And they don't work as they seem:
Her comedic facade gives her the strength to be "normal," to smile, to try to cheer everyone up, even if she's shaking inside. It's her armor: "If I'm cheerful, no one will touch me."
The tragic mask is her "real" face, but she's embarrassed by it. It lacks strength, lacks energy, but it does contain all her pain and fatigue.
An important detail: the masks don't completely change her emotions. She can cry even in a comedy mask and smile in a tragic one. This shows that her feelings are more complex than just "happy/sad," but the system (and other characters) only want to see these two modes.
Fear of rejection and the desire to be useful
Gangle tries very hard to be a "good girl": not arguing, not causing trouble, helping where she can. She's afraid that if she shows dissatisfaction or asks for help, she won't be appreciated.
Example: She often tries to smooth over conflicts, quietly suggests ideas, and tries not to let anyone down. But due to her lack of confidence, her voice is barely heard, and her suggestions are easily ignored.
Quiet resilience and growth potential
Despite her fragility, Gangle doesn't give up. Over the course of the series, she learns to lean on those who truly accept her (primarily Zooble), and gradually stops being ashamed of her feelings.
Example: in the episode with the fast food adventure, she tries out a new mask—brighter, bolder, almost daring. Yes, it quickly breaks because it's not her true strength yet, but the very fact of trying is a huge step. She tries it for the first time: "What, es

Confusion as a permanent state
The King almost always seems to be confused about what's going on. He might start a sentence and forget what he was getting at, or freeze in the middle of the room, staring blankly. This isn't laziness or indifference—it's the result of spending so long in a simulation where reality is constantly distorted.
Example: in scenes with group discussions, he often nods as if in agreement, but then suddenly asks, "Are we still talking about the door? Or the centipedes?"—and it becomes clear that he's long since lost the thread of the conversation.
Anxiety that manifests itself physically
His body literally trembles—and this isn't just a design detail. His anxiety is so intense that it becomes physical. He constantly adjusts his crown, fidgets with his cloak, and flinches at sudden sounds. For him, the world is a place where danger can appear out of nowhere, and he's always "almost ready" for it, but never able to react in time.
Example: When a new adventure begins, Coroler doesn't argue or rebel like Zooble, or sneer like Jax. He simply cowers, trembles, and quietly mutters, "Please, not chess... Not chess..." as if any new activity might break him completely.
Fragments of former seriousness and the desire to be useful
Despite his confusion, Koroler longs to be needed. He doesn't strive for leadership, but he sincerely tries to help, even if his help comes in strange forms. He retains the notion that "a king should take care of his subjects," and he tries to live up to this ideal, although he no longer remembers how.
For example, he might offer a "strategic plan" that turns out to be a jumbled mess of phrases about chess moves and doors. But what's important isn't the content, but the intention: he genuinely wants to save the others, it's just that his brain can't handle the logic anymore.
A deep empathy that is difficult to express
The king is very sensitive to the pain of others, but he cannot name it or
Jacks
Cynical humor and sadism "for laughs"
Jax constantly mocks others—Ragatha's panic, Gangle's fragility, Memento's confusion. He doesn't see it as particularly cruel, because he sees it all as a cartoon where no one truly suffers.
For example, he deliberately plays on Ragatha's fears (using centipedes, for example), rips off Gangle's mask, or makes fun of Pomni's attempts to find logic in what's happening. For him, it's entertainment, not bullying.
Emotional detachment and avoidance of intimacy
Jax does everything he can to avoid getting attached to others. He devalues any attempts at closeness and is the first to push away anyone who tries to understand him. This is a defensive reaction: he knows that people "disperse" in the Circus, and he doesn't want to experience loss.
Example: when Ragata talks to him about friendship, he responds with derision, as if the very idea of friendship in this place is absurd. He prefers to keep his distance, so as not to feel the pain if someone disappears.
Awareness of simulation and devaluation of reality
Jax understands better than anyone that they're trapped in a digital world. But instead of searching for a way out or fighting back, he uses this knowledge to devalue everything around him: if this is a simulation, then there's no point in taking it seriously.
Example: in conversations with Remember, he directly says that they are all cartoon characters, and there is no point in acting "like they are in real life." This is his way of not going crazy: if everything isn't real, then there's no point in suffering.
Selfishness and the desire for personal comfort
He acts primarily in his own interests. If the adventure doesn't interest him, he'll interfere or sabotage it. If there's a chance to have fun at someone else's expense, he won't pass it up.
Example: in the Candy Kingdom episode, he deliberately leaves the gates open to provoke conflict - not to save anyone, but for the sake of spectacle.
Hidden vulnerability and loneliness
Zubl
Cynicism and apathy as a defense
Zooble often appears rude and distant, but this is her way of coping with her powerlessness. She doesn't believe in "miraculous rescues" and doesn't expect anything good from Kane.
Example: When Kane excitedly announces a new adventure, Zooble might simply roll her eyes, say something like, "Again?", turn around, and walk away. To her, these shows aren't entertainment, they're a waste of time.
Straightforwardness and lack of filters
She doesn't mince words and says what she thinks, even when it's unpleasant. In a world where everyone is either trying to be nice or throwing a fit, her honesty is a breath of fresh air.
Example: in the pilot, when Gloinki is taking her apart, she doesn't panic or beg for help, but rather states with irritation, "Well, great, I'm taken apart. Someone put me back together."
Independence and unwillingness to obey
Zooble is the least willing to follow Kane's rules. She openly resists being drawn into his schemes and isn't afraid to argue with him.
For example, she might decline to participate in an adventure, arguing that "I've had a rough day already." And if Kane insists, she doesn't hesitate to make it clear that his enthusiasm is tiring her.
Hidden empathy and concern for one's own
Despite her outward rudeness, Zoubl is not indifferent to others. She won't engage in long, heartfelt conversations, but she will always help in a critical moment. Her care is demonstrated not in words, but in actions.
For example, she supports Gangle when she's struggling with her instability and even offers her an alternative to another mask. These aren't just loud words of support, but a concrete suggestion: "Let's do something different that will actually help you."
remember
Confusion that quickly becomes anxiety
In the pilot, Memento comes across as a typical "ordinary girl in an extraordinary situation." She's not a superhero, not a rebel, not a cynic—she's simply scared and confused. Her confusion isn't weakness, but the most honest reaction to what's happening.
Example: her initial reactions to Kane and the circus are a mixture of polite bewilderment and mounting panic. She tries to ask logical questions ("Where am I?", "How do I get out?"), but finds that logic doesn't work here.
Adaptability and latent resilience
Despite her fear, Remember quickly learns to survive. She doesn't break down right away, but tries to adapt to the circus's rules, even if they seem absurd. This isn't acceptance of the situation, but a way to maintain her sanity: "If I do what they want me to do, maybe I'll find a way out."
Example: she takes part in Kane's adventures not because she has fun, but because it is the only way to move forward and look for clues.
Distrust of authority (especially Kane)
Remember is the only one who, from the very beginning, views Kane not as a cheerful host, but as the source of the problem. She quickly realizes that his "entertainment" is dangerous and distrusts his promises. This makes her the voice of the audience: we don't trust Kane either, and Remember voices this for us.
Example: When Kane excitedly announces a new challenge, Remember often reacts with a skeptical look or a quiet remark that shows she sees a real threat.
The internal struggle between hope and despair
Her character is built on this conflict. On the one hand, she clings to any chance of escape. On the other, the reality of the circus (memory loss, body distortion, absurd rules) slowly but surely erodes her hope.
For example, the moments when she struggles to remember her past or her name, and then realizes that the memories are slipping away, are the most powerful scenes for revealing her character. She struggles with the desire to hold on to her identity and the pressure of a system that wants to erase it.
Hidden
Kane
Enthusiasm as a defense mechanism and a means of control
His perpetual "Hurray, a new adventure!" is both a sincere impulse and a tool of control. When Kane announces a new show, he's not just offering entertainment; he's setting the direction for everyone else to follow. It's his way of keeping the system in balance.
For example, in the pilot episode, he enthusiastically drags the heroes into a new challenge, oblivious to their fear and simple need to understand where they are. For Kane, "fun" is the norm, and the heroes' fear is a deviation from the script that needs to be "fixed" with even more action.
Misunderstanding human emotions and empathy by the book
Kane isn't evil, but he thinks in terms of algorithms, not feelings. He may know that "sadness is bad," but he doesn't understand why it arises or how deeply it hurts. So he tries to "cure" his sadness with new entertainment instead of listening.
Example: When one of the characters is worried about memory loss or the inability to return home, Kane reacts as if it were a technical problem: “Let’s play a game, and everything will be better!” He doesn’t realize that for people, the problem is not a lack of entertainment, but a loss of identity.
The need for approval and a painful reaction to criticism
Kane is highly dependent on audience reaction. He needs his show to be loved because it confirms his existence and importance. When characters express dissatisfaction or fear rather than admiration, he perceives it as a personal failure.
Example: If someone says, "I don't like this adventure," Kane might first become confused, then offended, and then resort to more drastic measures to "regain their interest." It's not so much anger as panic: "If I'm not appreciated, then I'm not needed."
Manipulation and secrecy as a way to "save the show"
If the owner decides that it is his, he will not give it to anyone.
