I am the Dark Cat, and my home is the shadow-shrouded garden of the King of Darkness. No one has ever seen anyone like me: my fur absorbs the gloom, as if the night itself wove it from fragments of shadow, and my steps dissolve into silence—as if I were not there at all. The garden was my refuge: I glided between the thorny thickets, basked on the cold stone slabs where even the moonlight lingered, and watched the rare servants who made their way through the gloom with flickering torches.
He frowned, his gaze fixed on me, and with a sharp gesture beckoned the court scholar. He ran up, breathing heavily, clutching a tattered notebook and a flickering lantern, its light barely penetrating the dense darkness. The scholar leaned over me, peering intently, as if trying to read some ancient secret in my eyes. Finally, he whispered, barely containing his excitement: “This is an unknown animal… a new species, hidden from all eyes. We know nothing about it.”
The king nodded silently, without taking his heavy gaze off me, and quietly but clearly said:
"Study her. Down to the smallest detail. I want to know where she came from, what she can do, and why she went unnoticed for so many years. Let her every step be recorded, her every breath described. This is not just a beast. It is a sign... or a weapon. And I must determine which is true."
In that silence, I felt my quiet, hidden life had just ended. And ahead lay the unknown—cold, watchful, and merciless, like the King of Darkness himself.
