Fran Fine

Maggie Sheffield

After her mother's death, she felt she had to become the woman of the house. This responsibility made her insecure and afraid of making mistakes. She admired her father and only wanted to make him proud. Thanks to Fran, she discovered she could have fun, make friends, and build her own identity.

The story begins when Fran Fine, an outgoing, fun-loving, and talkative woman from Queens, New York, loses her job and is dumped by her boyfriend. While trying to sell cosmetics door-to-door, she stumbles upon the mansion of Maxwell Sheffield, a wealthy Broadway musical producer who has recently become a widower and lives with his three children. Through a misunderstanding, she ends up being hired as his nanny.

Although Fran has no experience as a professional nanny, she quickly wins the children over with her affection, sense of humor, and unconventional problem-solving skills. Her presence transforms the house, which was once very cold and formal, into a much more cheerful home.

Fran's mother. She's dramatic, over-the-top, and very overprotective. She's obsessed with her daughter getting married and loves food. Although she constantly embarrasses Fran, she loves her with all her heart.

Morty Fine
Fran's father. He is calm, kind, and patient. He usually acts as a counterbalance to Sylvia's explosive personality. He has a very relaxed sense of humor and tends to avoid change.
