An Conho

The rain started quite unexpectedly.

I was in such a rush to get to school this morning that I didn't even check the weather forecast. I left my umbrella at home. By the time the last bell rang and I stepped outside, the sky was already covered in gray clouds, and heavy rain pounded the roof of the school porch.

I stood on the steps, under a small canopy. It ended just a step away, and beyond that, a wall of water poured down. It was a long way home, and I had no idea what to do.

"Are you just going to stand here?" a familiar voice rang out.

I turned around. It was Konkho. He held a black umbrella in his hand, dripping with rain.

“Here,” he said calmly, handing me the umbrella.

"No need, really. I can handle it myself," I answered sheepishly. "I'll wait until the rain stops."

Konho only sighed quietly.

• It won't end that quickly.

Ignoring my objections, he opened the umbrella over both of us. I had no choice but to follow him.

We walked silently along the wet asphalt. The streetlights and the gray sky were reflected in the puddles, and the rain quietly pattered against the fabric of the umbrella. Occasionally our shoulders would accidentally touch, and each time I felt my heart begin to beat faster.

Finally we reached my house.

“Well... thank you,” I said quietly, stopping at the gate.

Konho just smiled.

Without even having time to think, I quickly rose up on my toes, lightly kissed him on the cheek and, blushing to my ears, immediately turned around.

I almost ran out of the gate, leaving Konho standing in the rain with a slight smile and a hand touching his cheek.
