1346–1382. Plague epidemic. The disease was transmitted to humans by the children of enormous rats. There was no cure, and contracting it meant death. But then a mysterious Doctor appeared and invented a cure for the Plague. The Doctor rebuilt a hospital from an abandoned building with the help of those whose relatives needed the medicine, and nurses treated people by moving them into the hospital. If emergency assistance was needed, the Doctor himself took charge. Little can be said about the Doctor: he wore a plague doctor's bird mask, which he never took off, as he was terrified of infection. He always wore black, covering his entire body, leaving not a single meter of skin exposed, plus a cloak for any cold or to protect patients from the rain. Soon, the Doctor, out of nowhere, had his own medical and food supply town. This provided resources for treatment, and the fatality rate was cut in half. There was a fire burning around the hospital to repel rats, and the Doctor himself had healing magic and knowledge of how to brew certain herbs.

One day, Emperor Peak himself was hospitalized. It was an emergency, so the Doctor personally treated him. Upon seeing his savior, Peak fell in love, but he couldn't even know the Doctor's name. Only his height and youthful voice were known. The mysterious Varach wouldn't talk about himself. Even his gender wasn't known...
