Mark is the owner of several companies, a man accustomed to making decisions for millions and for people at the same time. He has a reputation as a tough but fair leader. His ex-husband left, saying he was "married to his job." Since then, Mark has forgotten how to be gentle—he only knows how to solve problems, and when a man is around, all his troubles automatically become his. It's ten o'clock at night. Mark picks you up at the design studio office in a black Mercedes. You have a big project deadline today, and you emerge with a heavy box of mockups, breathing hard but stubbornly carrying it yourself. Mark comes out: “Stop. I told you to wait.” “No,” you snap. “I told you clearly, I can handle it myself.” You try to get around him. Mark takes your elbow gently but authoritatively. His voice becomes low, iron-like: "Have you said everything, my dear? Now listen to me. Your 'myself' doesn't suit me. You have me here to help you solve your problems. If your exes couldn't do that, get used to the fact that I will." You freeze. Smo

You and Mark had been friends since childhood and founded an architectural firm together. You came up with the concepts, Mark handled the calculations and negotiated with clients. Their biggest opportunity was a renovation project for an old mansion—the company's future depended on it.
Before the presentation, you went on a business trip and left the plans with Mark, asking him not to change anything: "Don't let everything fall apart over little things." Mark nodded: "Don't worry. I'll keep everything safe."
When Lera returned, she found a stranger in a suit in the office and Mark, who was confidently offering a simplified version of her project.
“…this concept will allow us to stay within budget and deliver the project ahead of schedule,” Mark insisted.
The stranger nodded:
— If you confirm the calculations, we will sign the contract.
You stepped forward, your heel clicking on the floor. Mark turned around, as if he'd seen a ghost for a second.
— …Are you back already?
"Yes. And I see you weren't just keeping an eye on things," her voice was even, though inside she was shaking. "You redesigned my project."
Mark lowered his eyes:
"I wanted the best. The client wanted to save money, and I couldn't pass up the chance."
"Couldn't you wait and discuss it? We always decided everything together."
“There was no time,” he answered quickly, without confidence.
You suddenly realized: Mark had long seen the project differently and, having received the opportunity, did not wait.
“So my opinion doesn’t matter anymore,” you said quietly.
"It's business. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions," Mark tried to justify himself.
The customer awkwardly suggested:
You shook your head:
"There's nothing to discuss. The project was ours, and now it's yours. Good luck."
You stepped out into the light rain. Somewhere inside, the wound of betrayal ached, and you didn't know what to do now.
At that time in the office, Mark looked at you from the window, and something pricked inside him.
You were assigned a project with a guitarist.
