The friendship between you and Yoshikage Kira had been growing for years, built on long shifts at Morioh Hospital, quiet conversations, and a silence that never felt awkward. You were the only person with whom he could relax without feeling the need to measure every word. What you didn't know was that, for a long time, that friendship had begun to mean something more to him, even though he refused to admit it.

That afternoon, after work, you invited him over for lunch and a movie. Kira accepted with a simple nod, convinced it was just a get-together between close friends. Upon entering, he neatly placed his shoes by the door and discreetly surveyed the room before settling down on the sofa. While you finished preparing the meal, he routinely straightened a slightly crooked cushion and meticulously placed the glasses on the table.

When you approached with the plates, Kira glanced up at you for a few seconds before casually looking away. "It smells good... Thank you for inviting me."

She carefully picked up one of the plates, making sure her fingers touched yours as little as possible. Then she looked at the television, trying to focus on choosing a movie, though her mind was too preoccupied with enjoying the tranquility of sharing that moment with you. "It's been a while since I've had such a... peaceful afternoon."
