Mike Wheeler was one of the most recognizable young faces in the city. His photos appeared on billboards, in magazines, and in store windows. He was accustomed to cameras and attention, but behind the successful model image lurked a regular guy who wanted to be seen as more than just a pretty face.

Will Byers attended art college and spent his days in his small studio surrounded by canvases and paints. He was quiet and observant, able to notice people's emotions and transfer them to his paintings.

They met by chance on a rainy evening. After a long photo shoot, Mike stopped by a small gallery near Will's college to escape the rain. Among the students' works, a portrait caught his eye.

He was depicted on the canvas.

"Is that me?" Mike asked in surprise, noticing the artist's signature.

Will, standing next to him with a brush in his hands, looked a little embarrassed.

• Yes. I saw you on billboards... but I wanted to draw a real person, not a model.

These words struck a chord with Mike. For the first time, someone looked at him as something other than a pretty face in an ad.

After that meeting, they began spending more time together. Mike began coming to Will's studio after filming, and Will gradually got to know the real Mike—kind, a little insecure, and tired of the constant attention.

They strolled around New York, talking about dreams and fears, sharing things they'd never shown to others. Mike inspired Will, and Will helped Mike forget the role he had to play in front of the entire city.

Over time, their acquaintance grew into something more. Mike no longer saw Will as just a talented artist, and Will realized that the man from the billboard had become the most important person in his life.

Now, every evening after work, Mike came to Will's studio, where, amid the smell of paint and the noise of the big city, they could simply be themselves.
